Bavet and casino's
I thinking about going to Bavet for a night to check out the casino's. Just to see something different. Has anyone gone there? Is there anything interesting in that area? Thanks
there is a lot of really interesting rice feilds and you may even be luckty enough to be there when there are so many interesting cricket insects it will keep you awake at night.
if you are an ardent commie admirer there is a place for that near by too. but you got to be dedicated last i was there the arse sniffers in HCMC and plaque crickets in Bavet were competing for dominant annoyance

Nothing of interest really, dusty shithole and crumbling hotel casinos. Sway Rieng town is a better place to stay and then make a day trip if you really want to.

Cheers

^^ The best place to stay is the Waiko hotel which has rooms for 15$, air con , hot water, cable TV , but it is not very modern, although definitely old school and the doorman will offer you services not listed! The hotel also has a very good restaurant which is the best place for breakfast. There are a couple of beer garden style restaurants around the lake and the smell of baby powder wll bring back memories of Cambodia twenty years ago. There is also a good restaurant on the main road to PP plus a few small places on the road to Bavet and food stalls around the river area. Things to do, look at the prison walls, walk around the lake, cross over the river and check out the temple, look at the art deco architecture cinema, talk to the locals, read a book, and that's about it. Two nights maximum. I like the town. If you are on motorbikes or bicycles stop for a night at Neak Loung and explore the countryside and follow the Mekong back to or from Phnom Penh.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
