People with allergies/sinus issues in SEA?

Here is the place to post any simple or complex questions you may have about any aspect of life in Cambodia and beyond without fear of being told 'That question has been asked 100 times before.'

Would using an air filter or air purifier in the room I'm staying in help or are the stenches too powerful?

As for being outside, I could wear this good quality pollution mask I bought when I was living in polluted China.

I've never noticed these smells and have no idea what he's talking about. Perhaps he's just trying to scare you away?

I think I did notice them more when I was here first, and if I go away for a bit I'll notice them when I return. The city is planning to cover all those canals and improve sanitation along them anyway. I've been near much stinkier canals/ rivers in Kathmandu and various other countries. The Chrao Praya in Bangkok was always septic as hell too. The main rivers that flow through Phnom Penh are relatively unpolluted.

I haven't noticed it for a while, but at times it can get very dusty here. I live in the outskirts and it's way worse than central locations. It's ok at the moment but sometimes it's like you need to dust off surfaces daily.

I need to ask out of curiosity...are the Cambodian people the type to do what they say they are going to do or do they often set goals and never meet them/put them off/etc?

If the city has been planning to cover the canals, do you think they will accomplish this in the near future or will this possibly be a project that gets put off for a decade or so?

As for the dust...do you mean dust from pollution or just regular dust? Where is it coming from?

A lot of it is dust from construction, and a lot is dust that blows in from reclamation sites and and parched paddy fields in the dry season. In Bangkok they instituted a few rules a few years back because of dust pollution from construction sites. Sand had to be damped down properly before transportation, piles of sand outside construction sites had to be properly contained and covered. That sort of measure would help a lot here, so many small construction sites have piles of sand extending half-way across the road, larger ones have the roads in ribbons with their heavy vehicles and concrete spills.

Posting a reply without being a cunt is easy.

Maybe the conjunctivitis is from a gonorrhea infection in your eye.

You see being a cunt is easy too.

As for the BUILDING DUST...well that sucks doesn't it.

It's been done in various places like Boueng Trabek before and there's a major project underway to cover canals near Stung Meanchey.
