There are red roads all around the capital and off the red roads are dirt n sand single file tracks. The rest of the country is even better. Siem Reap has some fantastic riding too, especially up Kulen mountain. Basically just get on yer bike and explore. Where are you based?
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

Thanks for the reply Horace .
I am not based in Cambodia till the end of the year so are doing the recon for planning where to touch down first.
I don't mind all day trekking rides much like what I have done in other countries.
Single track is fine but plan on bringing the trusty duelly if there is some more technical stuff about.
Many Thanks
RS

Plenty of real hard off road riding to be had around the Cardamon mountains, Phnom Baset near Phnom Penh has a lot of technical rides, Kuken as I said before, plus the NE. Cambodia is mountain biking heaven if you ain't afraid of getting lost or have plenty of time, friendly locals, cheap beer n great rides if you make the effort to get to them. Dry season can be hot, dusty n sandy and in the wet season it's glorious mud.
I am no longer in Cambodia but nearer your time pm and I'll link you to my Endomondo map account.
There are also a couple of posters on here who like to ride.

My area (which horace knows well) not far from pp has some good tracks. obviously I don't do any of that nonsense myself and prefer motorized transport, but there are a few khmers and 1 mad scotsman who do that stuff here. Feel free to pm.

Quite a few groups going out regularly these days. Best to check the expat Facebook pages or post on them when you get here.
Kirirom national park has some great trails, ideal for mountain bikes.

I get the feeling that the weekend groups are not this posters kinda people, just as they weren't for me. Too organised, follow my leader stuff, all preplanned and no exploring and if you overtake the leader or get ahead of the group they don't half get upset, doubly so when they stop for a break and all drink water but you knock back three cans of beer!slavedog wrote:Quite a few groups going out regularly these days. Talking of touring. Has anybody seen any 1 wheel bike trailers for sale in the KOW?

Mad Scotsman here, Speu is great for safe mountain biking I'd love a go in kirirom but I'd want to go with a vehicle up the hill and find out where the motocross guys like dara who know decent and safe area in the park to camp. Thanks for shout out pedro
Agree with a lit of that. I don't generally like riding in big groups. Five or six is normally the limit for me. Used to go out with a bunch of NGO types here years ago; spent most of the time fixing punctures, waiting for people to take photos and catch up, not really for me. I make an exception for the bike hash, as that's more about the drinking than the riding.horace wrote:I get the feeling that the weekend groups are not this posters kinda people, just as they weren't for me. But there are a lot more groups now, should be possible for the OP to find one with rides and people that he likes.
