Gardening Advice Potted Palm Trees
Gardening Advice Potted Palm Trees
My Palm trees that have survived 6 years and have been repotted three months are turning yellow. I am looking for potassium and magnesium spikes which I understand may remedy the problem (or another amendment to cure the problem) I've been to many local shops can only find generic fertilizers for flowering plants. Where can I find the above or another suggested remedy? Thanks

Yellow leaves on plants usually indicate a water problem. Are you under or over watering?
Thanks. Good Question and noted. I probably tended to overwater (twice a day) during the dry season. cut back to once now for the past month and I don't see much a difference.I look at potted palm plants around town and also see yellowing. Want to keep to watering once daily and try to amend the soil with potassium and magnesium. Maybe once daily is overwatering as well? Before I repotted the (outdoor) palms they seemed greener and "happy" to be watered in the morning and lightly showered at night. Open to any suggestions.
You can buy potassium & magnesium supplements at Ucare - maybe grind them up & sprinkle on?
Limes definitely available here, not so sure on Epsom salts though. But it also seems you have to do this in the soil without a living plant & let it settle before planting - I'm no green fingers, but this article implies you shouldn't adjust magnesium/potassium for a plant that is already planted? I find that a bit odd, so good luck!

Without seeing the leaves, knowing the type of soil you're using or even the type of palm, I think you're over watering. Before you start stressing the plants even more with fertilizers, I would allow the soil to dry out then remove as much as you can, then examine the roots.
