I'm looking for a machinist to carry out a basic skim of a car head. Need to take a few thou off.
I've used a few places extensively in the past for diesel heads, but lost their contacts.
Can anybody recommend somewhere?
I'm doing the work, so would just take the head there, watch the work, and take it away again.
Machine shop for cylinder head skim
You may want to check on 598, from the Camko Roundabout north, nearly 2 km, just after the new Volcano food/karaoke venue on the left side of the road. They have all kinds of engine blocks in different states of repair/dismantling in the shop. I did not verify inside, though it would be the location, where they can help you, either by themselves or refer you somewhere else.
I peaked inside and they do have all machines there to do complete engine overhauls. Looks decent stuff to me, though not the latest "digital" stuff, but only westerners need that.
They also do large engines. When I was there, they did a valve replacement, including the finish to get decent mating surfaces on the valves.
