Based on my personal experiences with the German embassy, it's better to invite your friends to France and go through the French embassy.Klaus069 wrote:Hello

And based on mine it's the other way around. But you can't just pick the embassy, it depends on your itinerary which embassy you have to consult. In this case the German.Miguelito wrote:Based on my personal experiences with the German embassy, it's better to invite your friends to France and go through the French embassy.Klaus069 wrote:Hello

Applicants can't just enter and apply though, they have to make an appointment through the website of the embassy and sometimes there's quite a long waiting time. The website also has extensive info about the documents needed to apply.

Correct on all accounts above... but you can be a bit, er, flexible with the itinerary beforehand. Yes, there is a very lengthy wait time for the appointments with the German embassy online, which is the only way to schedule.Kachang wrote:And based on mine it's the other way around. A friend of my wife just applied to the French Embassy for a 2 weeks tourist visa. Money in the bank, owns a house and some land, a reasonably well paid job, sponsorship letter etc.
As I had warned the wife her friend's application was denied, the official reason being "she didn't convince them she wouldn't overstay".
The head of the visa section at the French embassy told me in person a couple years ago that if a female applicant was under 30-35, with no kids, single, no argument could sway them except unusual circumstances like working for a true multinational (Manulife, Vinci... ) with a salary in line with international norms, or possibly being in the highest govt circles, although the latter often travel with a diplomatic passport or have dual nationalities already.
I suggested to the wife's friend to build up some travel credentials as she hasn't traveled out of Cambodia yet, so she'll have gone to Thailand and Malaysia by the next time she applies, to boost her chances from 0,5 to maybe 10%.
