i don't have family sir.. Thanks for you coment srispringrain wrote:Hello, alexjkt!
I don't want to sound mean and I'm stating the obvious (to western expats), but:
please, please learn from this. You don't ever, ever, under any circumstances pay money up front for any kind of job. Ever.
Is this right - you have not even earned enough to pay for your accommodation?
You have to contact friends or family back home to help you. Good luck!
Help :'(
Why don't you just get yourself deported? Visit a temple and take off your clothes or just go straight to the immigration department and tell them that your employer stole your passport and ask them to help get your passport back or arrest and deport you.
Thanks, i will tryAlexandra wrote:Maybe, it sounds like your employer is illegally withholding your passport in a labor dispute.alexjkt wrote:ministry of labour cambodia can help ?

temple..
I'd try ministry of labour first, less likely to throw you in jail, and good to cause a problem for your employer. If it doesn't work, try immigration. If that doesn't work, it's to the wat!

A guy I know was in a similar situation, but with what might have been a more reputable/ honorable company. He did owe the company money, but he needed to get his visa extended and when it was pointed out that it is illegal to hold onto anyone's passport it was returned to him. Good luck with that.

Your passport doesn't actually belong to you, it belongs to your state. As such seizing or withholding anyone's passport is seen as a breach of basic diplomacy and human rights. Law enforcement officers can seize a person's passport to prevent them fleeing. Private individuals are not legally allowed to. None of that matters when you have gotten yourself involved with a bunch of crims though.alexjkt wrote:Hello sir, in Cambodia holding one's passport including illegal acts? What’s the name of the company and what did they employ you to do? Maybe you’re not the first and this is how they make their money.
K440's best ,Alexandra and Gavin will get to the bottom of this. You are Alex from Jakarta right?
The company name would help the team.
