Fingering a stubby
Mainly seen in Thailand and mainly done by westerners, sticking your thumb in a newly opened bottle of beer and flicking it out to make a popping sound, considering your fidgets carry the most bacteria what's the point.
Never mind.

Sounds like the sort of thing a bogan would say after they'd molested a dwarf.

Quite common in the PI, particularly amongst the AC expat crowd. Many many years back I questioned a now departed mate of mine about that very thing. His reply? At least it's my dirt!

Did ask around just recently and 2 western bar managers said that yes, it was a way of flicking dirt or dirty water away from the neck of the bottle, although it is not as common as before.johnny lightning wrote:Quite common in the PI, particularly amongst the AC expat crowd. You have good point, I've never seen it away from the popular/touristy areas. It's a western thing, although I've never seen it at home or anywhere else.horace wrote:Have never seen this done any where in SE Asia by locals nor by westerners. Thank god I avoid places that are popular.
Never mind.
I can understand the magical-kill-everything-tissue wipe of a can, what with those rats peeing everywhere on old stacks in warehouses. But the bottle top covers the drinking surface, the neck I could understand maybe dusty, but a finger flicking around inside the neck? - that's a bit "Kavanaugh".
