health insurance required for full time employee?
Is a Cambodian employer required to maintain health insurance on his/her full time employees? I'm not talking about "accident" insurance policies, but rather medical/hospital coverage of some minimum amount.

Any employer, not just Cambodian, is required to pay into the social security fund.
I am asking for my friend. She has been working full time at one of the better known schools in Phnom Penh for about 3 years now and the only health insurance she has is for "accidents" (and even then the benefit is quite small). If she goes to a doctor for anything else (flu, disease, stomach ache, etc) she has to pay 100% (no insurance coverage). Is this normal in Cambodia? It was my understanding that full time employees were, by law, guaranteed basic medical/hospital coverage as a condition of employment..

That insurance exists, in two levels. The most basic is accidents. No, not flu etc.
If her employer has complied, she would have a card.

NSSF: http://www.nssf.gov.kh/default/employme ... n-payment/Every employer or owner of an enterprise/establishment with 8 employees or more under the Law on Social Security Schemes for Persons defined the Provisions of the Labor Law shall mandatorily register and pay contributions...
Can business apply for this program with less than 8 workers...?
I didn't count how much, but maybe this comes cheaper (for family ) than private insurances?
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
