Generally speaking if you get married in the region, do you generally need this document to be signed off by your embassy?
I keep on getting told i dont need it, and have checked on rhe Gov.Uk website, which says that as long as the marriage is legal in her home country , then it will be legal in the UK.
Does that sound right?
The odd agent has told us that i need this doc signed off by the Brit embassy, but most have told us we dont need it.
How do they know i dont have 3 wives in barangland though for example?
Cheers.

Affirmation of marital status/Single status document
"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
Used to be the case you could get it from the UK embassy then get it translated (1st Choice) with embassy stamp and sig’ or embassy dude or dudette.
It’s just a simple self declaration. There’s no physical way anyone can check.
The most difficult part is getting a single status for your partner. Used to be from the sankgat (translated by 1st Choice) then taken to the ministry.
I believe that’s changed now and they don’t or shouldn’t issue them which means a visit to the ministry.

pew, pew, pew, pew!
No, the Sangkat still issues them, but the MoFA refuses to legalize it. Some countries require this legalization and won't accept a 'just translated' version.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 2:12 pmUsed to be the case you could get it from the UK embassy then get it translated (1st Choice) with embassy stamp and sig’ or embassy dude or dudette.

If you want to get married in Cambodia one of the requirements is you need a document you are single. It has to be signed off by your embassy to proof it's real. If your embassy doesn't provide that service it's going to cost you during the procedure in Cambodia to make up for the missing stamp.spitthedog wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 11:34 amGenerally speaking if you get married in the region, do you generally need this document to be signed off by your embassy?

If your official status is 'divorced' you will also need the court order proving it, also legalized by your embassy. And if they don't providethat .......
The applicants registered Sangkat is the only authority that issues the "Certificate of celibacy, widowhood or divorce" to Cambodian Citizens, nothing difficult about it all. If getting married in Cambodia it's a non-issue as doesn't need to be legalized/certified/notarized by the MoFAIC. If this document is required for marriage abroad, and that country requires it to be legalized/certified/notarized by the Cambodian MoFAIC, then you're shit out of luck because the MoFAIC will not.Kammekor wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 4:43 pmNo, the Sangkat still issues them, but the MoFA refuses to legalize it. I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
Your question is a bit unclear, it appears you are asking 2 separate questions...spitthedog wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 11:34 amGenerally speaking if you get married in the region, do you generally need this document to be signed off by your embassy?

Are you asking whether you need your Certificate of non impediment/single status certified by your Embassy in order to apply to marry a Cambodian Citizen in Cambodia? If so, then yes, you do.
Or, are you asking once you receive your Cambodian Marriage Certificate does it need to be signed off by your Embassy in order for the marriage to be legally recognized in the UK. If so, then the answer is no, it does not need to be signed off by your Embassy.
