So I recently arrive in Phnom Penh, and met a local Khmer girl. She works at the hospital and seems well to do and self reliant. Took her out on a date for coffee then to aeon mall and the whole time was hugging and holding my hand. Back home this is normal, but it was my understanding that displays of public affection were rare and frowned upon in Cambodia. The question is, is this normal now? The situation sent alarm bells ringing in my head.
Cheers again for any feedback...

First date?
Dunno, Cambodians and Cambodia is changing and becoming slightly more liberal, however, that does seem odd.
If she was a proper virgin good girl she wouldn’t be allowed out unaccompanied with another male let alone a barang.
If she’s already played the field then I’m guessing she’s not as sweet and innocent as you’re expecting, that doesn’t mean she’s a badun.
Also, I know some working girls say they work at a hospital/bank/shop/airport but in reality they don’t.
Be careful.

Why is it a red flag that you didn't meet her at a hospital?
Did you meet her online? As Gavinmac knows better than most her Facebook profile would normally reveal what you need to know.

Were you in the VIP movie? All cuddling and such? That’s normal... that’s why they give you a blanket.Barangnang wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:44 amSo I recently arrive in Phnom Penh, and met a local Khmer girl.
