so, is George STILL only selling women?
Good recognition on appropriate posting too! You're right! PB, you are showing excellent posting etiquette..obviously doing a search on what you are about to post before just willy nilly posting a New Topic. Nice work! It was trippy to see Emily and Rexalls avatars again too.. WHERE are they now? When I come back to Cambodia, I will be offering to buy a whole list of goodies for you folks... so, if you can wait a year PB...?
Gov, on your initial question...I buy bread from the Rasmey Sorya Bakery on Mao Tse Tong. It's definetly not French! They don't have a big selection in terms of type but they do the best "normal" bread best suited for sandwhiches; toast and so on that I have tasted in Cambo. It's the rectangular block type (known as a "sandwhich loaf" in Aust). They seem to regularly bake it and I often get it when it has just come out of the oven - it tastes great - although sometimes the bread may be a day old I think; still good though. It doesn't have that sweet sugar taste of the crap sold at Lucky's etc. They mainly do white bread but on the odd occasion have wheat bread. All the ingredients are imported from Aust - consequently it basically tastes the same as bread you may find there. They sell it un-sliced but will slice it at your request. I think they sell it for R3500 for a 680g loaf.
I cant believe you beat me to the punch on posting that recipe!
I am embarrassed, ashamed..chagrined even.
Does anybody know what became of the Kiwi Bakery? Now that their premises have been bulldozed (presumably to make way for one more vulgar legoland monstrosity) I've lost touch with them although I guess that they're around somewhere as Caltex still stock the bread.
For a toasting loaf (thick, white and unsugared) then the Kiwi Bakery was imho the best in town. KiR the semi official 440 Twitter site

Kir,
Pretty sure I saw them relocating up on the Riverfront (Sithowatch Quay). If I remember it was the far end, nearer the post office. They hadn't opened but they looked to be pretty close. Vox
