So why was Kushner meeting with the head of a major Russian sanctioned state bank just before the election then?
Can't help thinking that debt (i hate using that word) might be involved?
Has another President ever refused to show his tax returns? (let alone one who is never shy about saying how wealthy he is)
If you were plagued by bankruptcies and no western bank would touch you who could you turn too??
Jan 6, 2017 - Donald Trump’s companies are almost $1.8 billion in debt to more than 150 institutions, a new report has suggested – raising fresh questions about potential conflicts of interests when the Republican takes office in January...
From 2011 ;
The Donald's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is in a pickle.
The 30-year old sank $1.8 billion into a Fifth Avenue skyscraper, at the height of the real estate boom -- at the time, it was the highest price ever paid for a single building -- expecting it to rake in $120 million in annual office rent.
Instead, the tower will rake in $30 this year, the WSJ says.
And vacancy in the building is 30%.
Now, Kushner is facing a default deadline.
According to the WSJ,
As of March, the aluminum-panel-clad skyscraper, where retailer Uniqlo is planning its flagship store, was about $3.5 million-a-month short on debt service... Only $10 million remained in a reserve fund used to service the property's $1.22 billion mortgage, which is tied to the office portion of the building. Its revenues are only one-fourth the amount forecast in 2007.
Mr. Kushner is now facing off against a set of lenders that include private-equity heavyweights Starwood Capital Group and Colony Capital LLC. Talks have accelerated recently, with Mr. Kushner offering to put in tens of millions of dollars to recapitalize the property in exchange for some form of relief.
Kushner says his family -- which made their vast wealth in real estate -- is willing to invest more cash, they just to come to a "mutually satisfactory" deal with the servicing agent.
Hey, there's more colorful stuff about prostitutes and videotape here :
Ivanka Trump is married to Jared Kushner, heir to a billion-dollar New Jersey real estate empire, whose Orthodox Jewish family has been both a philanthropic pillar of the state’s Jewish community and a force in its political life. But the family’s reputation was indelibly scarred after a longstanding feud between Jared’s father, Charles Kushner, and his brother, Murray, spun out of control and landed Charles behind bars.
The two brothers, heirs to their Holocaust survivor father’s thriving businesses, spent years filing lawsuits against each other, which led to government investigations of illegal behavior surrounding campaign financing, taxes and charitable contributions. Filial anger and a desire for revenge ultimately threatened Charles to the extent that he resorted to measures more characteristic of a New Jersey mob boss than a mild-mannered businessman. Furious that his sister Esther and her husband were providing information against him, he hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, videotaped their sexual encounter and had the tape delivered to Esther.
Enter Chris Christie, the New Jersey governor and former presidential hopeful and current endorser in chief of Donald Trump. Christie was the prosecutor who put Ivanka’s father-in-law behind bars.
As an ambitious U.S. attorney, Christie aggressively went after Charles Kushner, who pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the IRS, making false statements to the federal government and witness tampering. He served 14 months of his two-year sentence at an Alabama prison and was permitted to spend the remainder of his sentence in a New Jersey halfway house.
In 2009, not long after Charles became a free man and resumed his business activities with a far more subdued public profile, Jared and Ivanka were wed and the proud Trump and Kushner papas stood beside them at their wedding.
The families appear to get on famously. Indeed, family loyalty overtook traditional Kushner Democratic Party ties last summer when Charles jumped parties long enough to donate $100,000 to Trump’s PAC and host a Jersey Shore reception for Trump at his seaside mansion.

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
It's disheartening to see regular people play dumb about the context of the Russia issue no matter how many times it's explained. Especially as 45 and co stay lying about it when there should be no reason to. A hit dog will holler, as they say.
On that note, Republican Walter Jones rightfully joins the call for Devin Nunes to recuse himself from the Russia meddling investigation -

This is Ethics 101 stuff here.Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) on Tuesday told The Hill that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) should "absolutely" recuse himself from his panel's investigation into Russia's meddling in last year’s election.
Jones, a member of the House Armed Services Committee who frequently bucks leadership, is the first Republican in Congress to call on Nunes to step aside.
"How can you be chairman of a major committee and do all these things behind the scenes and keep your credibility? You can't keep your credibility," Jones said just off the House floor.
“If anything has shown that we need a commission, this has done it by the way he has acted. That's the only way you can bring integrity to the process. The integrity of the committee looking into this has been tainted."
Jones is the only Republican co-sponsor on a measure from Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) that would establish an independent commission to probe Russian interference in the U.S. election.
Nunes on Tuesday brushed aside calls to recuse himself, asking why he should.
Democrats — including the committee’s ranking member, Adam Schiff (Calif.) — have called for Nunes to remove himself from the investigation after the revelation that he secretly visited the White House grounds the day before announcing he'd been shown evidence of incidental surveillance of President Trump’s transition team.
Nunes described calls for him to step down as “politics.”
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) signaled Tuesday that he was standing behind Nunes.
"I don't care what Mr. Ryan says. That's his right to feel that way. I know how the people out here feel," Jones said. "When you have a committee chairman that bypasses the committee and goes to the White House, when you have a president that has a cloud over their head, that's not smart.
"What Mr. Nunes has done is make it more political. Not less political, but more political."
45 joined a women's empowerment event today and I'm not joking -

Whenever he speaks on a topic it sounds like a half-assed book report some 8th grader threw together at the last second. No teacher would accept it but it's good enough to make you president if you're a white dewd. Pffft.

Some highlights(?) -President Donald Trump joined a room full of women at a women’s empowerment event Wednesday in the final days of Women’s History Month. He talked about infrastructure and the Department of Transportation, heralded his cabinet full of women and rattled off some names of a few famous women.
“My cabinet is full of really incredible women leaders,” Trump told the room. It’s unclear what he meant by the word “full,” however. In fact, Trump’s cabinet is more white and more male than any cabinet since Ronald Reagan.

Speaking of things that totally aren't racist and sexist, in a CNN exchange with racist and deadbeat-dad former congressman Joe Walsh, Angela Rye says what a lot of us are thinking. She calls out the low bar for Trump versus the double standard for Obama as well as the media giving bigots a platform. Background:
http://www.theroot.com/sean-spicer-joe- ... 1793747707During Tuesday’s White House briefing, press secretary Sean Spicer—who is, by far, one of the most ignorant and incompetent people ever to hold the position—channeled Melissa McCarthy in response to Ryan’s simple inquiry: How does the Trump administration plan to revamp its image after months of being mired in controversy after controversy, including but not limited to Trump’s apparent collusion with Russian President Vladimir Putin?
What ensued was a tense back-and-forth during which Spicer accused Ryan of having an “agenda” and being “hell-bent” on framing the Trump administration as inept and deceptive. Ryan, who is a grown woman, shook her head twice, and Spicer just could not take it.
“I’m sorry, please stop shaking your head again,” Spicer said, obviously under the false impression that he has the authority to tell Ryan what to do, when to do it and how to do it.
Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, perhaps most famous for being a propaganda-spouting, abusive bigot, decided to mock Waters’ hair during a turn on Fox & Friends earlier this week. (...)
Then we have Joe Walsh, a one-term Illinois congressman and deadbeat father who, if not for the pervasive acceptance of white male mediocrity as standard, would be an erased footnote in history.
Walsh decided that Tuesday was the day to try it with Angela Rye on Twitter. What prompted this unforced error? Rye rightfully pointed out the racist and hypocritical standard applied to former President Barack Obama as opposed to the white male yardstick used to measure the inadequacies of Donald Trump.
“ ... Barack Obama had to be the next-best thing to Jesus; and here we are, just two months in[to the Trump administration], and ... there is issue after issue,” Rye said on Monday’s Anderson Cooper 360.
Walsh, who, in addition to failing forward in life at breakneck speed, clearly has low reading-comprehension skills, as evidenced by his misquote of Rye. Then, doubling down on his absurdity, he chastised her for comparing Obama to Jesus Christ—even though that is not what she did.
Here's the exchange in question -

Where were you when Hillary was lying through her teeth, doing dodgy deals with the misogynistic Saudis and talking about her own supporters like scum?
Oh, but that's acceptable because she's a democrat?
Don't forget that that Bernie betrayed his supporters by folding to the Dems...and even going so far as to support KIllary...what a joke! The dems have no one to blame but themselves. After that little episode, I don't see how any person would consider voting for them again. I'm surprised the question of a payoff hasn't been raised.
I'm no fan of Trump, but he played by the same rules as Killary, and he won.
I suspect most of your heart-rending wailing is based on your well-known prejudices; the fact that they are fashionable at present doesn't make them not prejudices.
Sandwiches, please.

The people that elected Trump were sick and tired of being shut up and mocked, they rose up and had their say. The establishment is pressing hard to suppress these sentiments, and the only thing they might be successful with is that they may just regain the stage, because these people, including myself have better things to do than argue with blind fools. But, even if we leave your echo chamber, that doesn't mean we are not simmering at the surface of current affairs, and ready when we are to be called upon to support our people.
The problem with the world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
Wow ppp, you and "your people" sound like the the victims of an evil, implacable system, poor you. You might be happier under a true people democracy, like Russia for instance.
You might be too, the Russians actually get to choose their president.logos wrote:Wow ppp, you and "your people" sound like the the victims of an evil, implacable system, poor you. You might be happier under a true people democracy, like Russia for instance.

The Kushner family's $1.8 billion skyscraper is in the news again. Trying to get a deal with Anbang, one of the most connected to chinese government companies there is. How does this sit with Trump's ''build build build'' policy then?
Talks between the family of Jared Kushner and a Chinese company seeking a stake in a Fifth Avenue skyscraper are over.
The Kushner Companies confirmed on Wednesday that negotiations with Anbang Insurance Group to help fund redevelopment of the family’s office tower on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue have ended. The news was first reported by the New York Post.
The talks had drawn criticism from lawmakers and government ethics experts. They saw it as a potential attempt by China to curry favor with the White House.

Common move for witnesses and he may not say a peep anyway, but wonder if there's anything to saying he "has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it, should circumstances permit."
Regardless, Malcolm Nance was correct predicting Flynn would be first. Wonder who else called it.
Spicer just repeated the Hillary Clinton/Russia uranium myth -- twice in like five minutes, no less -- to deflect from the Russia investigation.
