The Acid Throwers of London

Believe it or not, there is a whole other world outside of Cambodia and South East Asia, be it people or politics, frustrations or football, this is the place to talk about it.

The Acid Throwers of London

I always looked at acid throwing as a signature Cambodian thing. Something to do with the Khmer nature and part of its "head for an eye" atavistic social proclivities. Imagine my astonishment this morning when I read about acid being weaponized in London. And it's not terrorism related (at least so far.) In this case it's robbers disabling moto drivers to steal their bikes. Immediately I wonder: who are these animals? Chavs? Hard to tell from the article. But the city of London alone completely dwarfed all of Cambodia in acid throwing in 2016. 458 vs. 3. Downward trend here, upward over there.

Who be the barbarians now? Also makes me wonder how much of it goes on in other countries. The depths of human perfidy has no bottom, I guess.

Men on Scooter in London Throw Acid in Faces of 5 People
The Metropolitan Police have said that acid attacks are on the rise in the British capital, with 458 reported last year, nearly double the total of the previous year.

Whatever happened to…Cambodia’s acid attack epidemic?
“Such legislation caused the number of [reported] attacks to drop from 36 survivors in 2010 to six in 2014,” said Erin Bourgois, a former project manager at CASC. The charity began winding down its operations in 2015 following a sharp decrease in the number of acid attacks. Since then, three cases were reported in 2016 and three in the first four months of 2017.

A Cambodian thing? Since when? Acid attacks have been the Modus Operandi of jealous and psychotic Indian and Pakistani men for decades, so it wouldn't be surprising if those nationalities represent a large percentage of acid attackers in swinging Londonistan. The mass acid spraying in crowded clubs is a shocking new twist, though. I had never heard of that.

The news articles omit the appearance or nationality of those arrested. That absence suggests they are from a well known group.

But we must be PC.

You would be wrong. There have been three major incidents in this spate of attacks.

Two young lads aged 15 and 16 have been arrested for the most recent incident last week. Considering ALL the five victims were of muslim descent, police are at the moment investigating it as a hate crime based on racist reasons.

Earlier this week a white male, John Tomlin, appeared in court for a similar attack on a young Pakistani student and her cousin, and the guy who injured 11 people in the nightclub attack was white male (and boyfriend of a tv celebrity in the UK), Arthur Collins.

There was an interesting background story on this on Radio 4 yesterday. It said that acid attacks started around 200 years ago in the UK and were invariably male on male attacks. There was a virtual epidemic of them in the 1840s, 50s and 60s when it was the preferred weapon of choice between warring inner city criminal gangs.

I also wondered why it is used and stumbled on this article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07 ... er-weapon/

Quote: "Campaigners told The Telegraph that crime gangs were switching to acid and ammonia because laws had been tightened on possession of knives.
Sulphuric acid at 91 per cent strength can be bought cheaply over the counter in shops and DIY stores as a drain unblocker. There is no age restriction for those buying it. "

I'm not so sure there is any correlation between the two. Personally speaking, if I wanted to stab someone I'd tear them up good with a big blade, I'd carve them into little pieces. However it would never occur to me to buy acid instead, it's next to useless as a weapon because there's a good chance you could get fucked up yourself while applying it.

If you kill someone with acid can you still feed the body to Mr. Woo's pigs?

Do police in London have guns yet? Or, if approached by an acid thrower, they should defend themselves with billy clubs?

The Armed Response Unit is sent in to deal with those sort of situations.

Yes, I WOULD be wrong.

One of the alleged perpetrators charged along with an unnamed 16 year old.

19 yr old Mustafa Ahmed. Sounds a little bit like a muslim to me.

You're a fucking idiot. Does a crime committed by an Asian guy immediately become a Muslim crime any more than a crime committed by the white guys mentioned above become a Christian crime?

What your link doesn't make clear is that most of the attacks were against people delivering food on mopeds. It was ordinary street crime.

Stick to trying to sell your computer cables.
