CBC’s the fifth estate and Radio-Canada’s Enquete are reporting tonight after their investigation that the culprit may be a common pesticide used in Thailand - Asia for controlling bedbugs... http://www.cbc.ca/news/deaths-of-quebec ... -1.2569434 It seems like this could be a much bigger problem than thought before as there are quite a few similar stories about people dying with similar findings. Wonder if this shit is used in Cambodia too, I would guess so.
The full episode will be here by tomorrow - http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/episodes/2012-2 ... o-paradise

Aha, just as I thought. The Thais were trying to blame the death on the girls, saying they were taking drugs and consuming crazy drinks on the beach with DEET in them. This is what I posted a couple years ago on Flyertalk:

SOP is to blame the victim. Then lose or kill the evidence. Find no cause of death. Lots of people on TA were complaining of bedbugs. There you go. Farang no like bedbugs - farang fault.

I didn't understand where food poisoning come up from my post? The new info that I posted of the investigation says they were most likely killed by the hotel using pesticides in their hotel room to control bedbugs. There are other deaths attributed to this in the same places and other tourist places around Thailand. So it seems like it was aluminum phosphide rather than whatever they ate or anything else. I wonder how much of this shit is used in Cambodia with the high incidences of people dying in guesthouses from "heart attacks".vladimir wrote:2 dead in Thailand from food poisoning, how many have died in Cambodia of same?kansaicanuck wrote:Er, Come again?vladimir wrote:So, Thailand 2, Cambodia thousands?

Oh, I was referring to the thread title, crossed wires.
I doubt lower-end Khmer places spray, hygiene is a 4-letter word.
Higher-end places will usually use well-know industrial cleaners which will be safer.
It's probably the middle income places run by Khmers you want to watch, good intentions but ignorant of chemicals.
