Malaysia airliner crashes in Ukraine - reports
Question is, why the deviation from the normal path? If the flight had stuck to it's usual path then no problem.
Both the Korean civilian airliners that were shot down by Russia in the '80s were also flying off course...one was able to land on a frozen lake!
The Iran airliner shot down by the US had not strayed from it's usual path, in fact....
..Iran Air Flight 655 was an Iran Air civilian passenger flight from Tehran to Dubai that was shot down by the United States Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes on 3 July 1988. The attack took place in Iranian airspace, over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf, and on the flight's usual flight path. The aircraft, an Airbus A300 B2-203, was destroyed by SM-2MR surface-to-air missiles fired from the Vincennes.
All 290 on board, including 66 children and 16 crew, died. - Wiki.

300 miles out, a possible storm mabey;

The usual (safe?)flight path.
http://www.businessinsider.com.au/mh17s ... ine-2014-7
Shouldn't the 'powers that be' ban flights over war zones regardless of a 'assumed safe zone.

The USA call it accidental downing, since the 40's these tragedies have happened.
The US once accidentally downed a civilian airliner carrying about 300 people on it. On July 3, 1988, as the Iran-Iraq war was winding down, US and Iranian ships were involved in some skirmishes in the Persian Gulf. An Airbus A300 took off from a nearby airport, one which was used for both military and civilian purposes. An American cruiser, the USS Vincennes, mistook the plane for an F-14, an American fighter plane that we had sold to Iran before the 1979 revolution, and launched two missiles, downing the plane and killing everyone on board.

Interesting point here regarding altitude, though Hrabove (crash site) is only about 170 meters above sea level. One would like to think they'd be flying 10km above the conflict and not 10km above sea level anyway.tarariverboat wrote:..i read somewhere the aircraft was in a mountain area so the actual missiles may have been a few 1000 ft above the sea level,so maybe the actual distance from the ground to aircraft was closer to 30000ft.also if the aircraft did vary from its flight path than the operator may have mistaken it for a military..

Just came across this...
According to Malaysia Airlines, MH17 filed a flight plan requesting to fly at 35,000 feet throughout Ukrainian airspace, but "upon entering Ukrainian airspace, MH17 was instructed by Ukrainian air traffic control to fly at 33,000 feet".
A few nutty theories here. It seems very straightforward, Russian experts helping the separatist thugs, most of whom are Russian as well to shoot down Ukranian planes and helicopters, two already this week as well as this one.The thugs remind me of Serb war criminals back then, simply murderers and opportunists.
The scene still not secured, looting taking place including of credit cards, drunken or drugged militia, missing black boxes and bodies rotting everywhere. At least Australias PM has called out Putin, unless things start moving quickly he wont be in Brisbane for the G20. Russian foreign minister on holiday, not good enough.
But how piss weak are the Dutch and the other Europeans, this crisis has been going on for months. I see this week the useless Dutch so called army has been blamed for doing nothing in the former Yugoslavia when all those men and boys were murdered in their zone. Its always trendy to blame the US for everything but they did the right thing in Yugoslavia when the Europeans were sitting on their hands.

Politically this is the best thing that could have happened to Ukraine though no?
If Ukraine air space did direct the plane into a highly dangerous red alert area...
Europe were never otherwise going to get heavy handed about the spat when 30% of Europe's natural gas supply comes from Russia. You can almost picture Putin wryly smiling with his little hands on the gas valves whilst staring towards Europe. Whereas the U.S is becoming more and more energy independent so it's hard to imagine Ukrane's freezing in the winter would be a priority on the other side of the world, and the U.S would no doubt like nothing more than to hurt the Russian gas industry and starve the giant Gazprom.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/ ... story.html
Look at how the U.S authorities have dealt with european banks who never broke any european laws ;
''The most significant example is the British bank Standard Chartered, which specialises in doing business in the Middle East and Asia. It felt obliged to pay an incredible $667 million to OFAC and other agencies. In fact, Standard Chartered was blackmailed by the US authorities. The bank was given a choice between being cut out of all business with the US, or complying with its sanctions regime against Iran.
I am certainly not saying that sanctions are wrong. Indeed, it is essential to stress that in Britain we do have our own sanctions against Iran, for instance against companies or state entities alleged to be involved in nuclear weaponry. But these have been agreed democratically, in the sense that they are open to scrutiny and criticism in and out of Parliament. In a system that relies on rule by consent, this gives them legitimacy''

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
I don't think the Dutch are that into the global domination game these days, if not smoking blunts, they be dealing with an ever growing fundamentalist muslim hood out of Rotterdam, covering up the women head to toe, even if it rains all day.

BirdBrain indeed. Even Putin isn't claiming that the Ukraine shot it down, he's blaming the Ukraine for creating the conditions whereby the war occurred, which is about as tacit an admission of "the rebels done it" as you're going to get.BirdBrain wrote:You lot are so brainwashed by the western press!
For the brainless here like birdbrain I give you a couple of much juicier conspiracy theories that most are totally unaware of. These killings have shaped thepost WW2 world and the the current problems in Palestine and the Ukraine. GoogleJames Forrestal and George Patton. Both great men and both probably murdered for the perceived greater good.

No longer working at the S.D Holiday Hotel...
Whoever it was Bodies rained down on a bunch of unsuspecting farmers.
I for sure would not like a corpse crashing thru my kitchen roof.

The figure is around 6 - Françoise Barré-Sinouss (the Noble Laureate who first identified the virus in 1983 and is the president of the International AIDS Society) announced this at the conference opening today.Kachang wrote:I know of two.....Joon wrote:Apparently, about 100 AIDS researchers were on board MH17 en route to a global conference on AIDS in Australia, including a key HIV researcher who has been instrumental in research on prevention of mother-to-child transmission.

I had met Prof Joep Lange twice, and all I can say is what a loss to all society for an inspirational man who was a visionary for therapeutic intervention for HIV, which has led to similar interventions for other viral diseases.
May he, his wife and all 298 on MH17 rest in peace!
