Chinese herdsman trips over 7.8 kilo gold nugget
7.8kg are 250 troy ounces, at current "market" prices that piece of rock is worth €272677 or $308387 in theory. In practice, probably somewhat less after remelting/refining into "liquidly tradable" 999.9 purity / 24 karat / London Good Delivery bullion though. Still, what a find to stumble upon for a herdsman!

I see it now..........pretend miner Todd Hoffman is undoubtedly on his way to bet his family's future (actually pawning his youngest daughter Sara) on his new Chinese site, investing $3 mil while setting a goal of recouping 1000 ozs.violet wrote:shall we start a gold rush?

Remelting a rare find like this may actually devalue the net worth. Any decent nugget of reasonable weight is well sought after by collectors and may be worth more than it's intrinsic value. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... -gold.htmlmetaleap wrote:7.8kg are 250 troy ounces, at current "market" prices that piece of rock is worth €272677 or $308387 in theory. Depending on the finders circumstance I'm guessing this herdsman will do very well either way and I can imagine him now with a gold price app on his smartphone
Never mind.
Oh cool, didn't realize thatRainMan wrote:Remelting a rare find like this may actually devalue the net worth. Any decent nugget of reasonable weight is well sought after by collectors and may be worth more than it's intrinsic value.
