I'd bet Capt. Septic is in actuality, typing his posts with one hand whilst alternating between sipping a cup of Twinings and gingerly petting his Welsh Corgi with the other.
I'm not a troll but thanks for saying that I'm well crafted as I said and I will say it again "Just because you guys don't agree with my posts doesn't mean I'am a troll". In this case everyone would be a troll because everybody in these forums likes to write obtuse and rage comments all the time it doesn't make any sense but I guess in your eyes I'm the only one who's trolling but the rest aren't right?

Lemme guess, when it snows this is evidence that global warming is bunk, right?
To me, the incoherent and idiotic musings of our half-witted Captain are further evidence of how the basic education system has failed so many Americans . Allowing kids to drop math and science as soon as they can because it's so "hard" has handicapped millions of Americans and condemned them to a lifetime of bewilderment since they lack the basic knowledge to interpret events and observations, hence they tend towards mysticism or conspiracies to explain things they simply can't understand because they haven't got the tools to do so. More worryingly, they still can vote and run for office, hence the spectacles of James Inhofe as head of the House Committee on Climate Change, Rick Scott's edicts on not using the "c" words and the House Sub-Committee on Science and Technology being headed by a proud Luddite.
I sometimes despair for the future of my kids' world when we live in confederacy of dunces.

Uh, no. But I've lived there for some time and have many friends. You wouldn't have been one of them.Captain America wrote:Jacked Camry wrote:Lemme guess, when it snows this is evidence that global warming is bunk, right?

You sir, are a wordsmith and a genius. I had, till now, used the term "dumb fucks" for my neighbours to the south, but you have expressed it so much better. I would add, Mythology of Greatness to your terms "mysticism or conspiracies". Of course there are a few great men there, upon which many ride their coattails and claim greatness for themselves.Jacked Camry wrote:Lemme guess, when it snows this is evidence that global warming is bunk, right?

I had owned a second house in Florida for 20 years, and was constantly stupefied by what I heard and observed.

Great points: rl66, Secret Squirrel, Kachang & Gin & tonic.
I have spent months compiling those figures, deliberately looking at and including 'smaller' crashes, including privately chartered aircraft, some of which don't make it to lists of 'bigger crashes'. There have been loads! I've even looked back at those involving poor Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and Jim reeves, but they aren't really part of this. As Mark Twain alluded to - there are lies and damned lies!
Lucky Lucan, why did you keep on about Ickey? I've found plenty to demonstrate that Ickey's shows sometimes mess with the facts. I'll even give you an example - he mocks GW Bush on ignoring the news about 9/11, but when you research, GW was urged by his Press Secretary to 'say nothing' so as not to frighten the kids he was reading the story to. I find the PS's actions - and GW's response - laudable. Come on, mate, I develop my own ideas, without necessarily repeating what others conclude. That's the only way forward.
Brusque? You? What a shock that is! Anyway, let's see what some peeps (it doesn't fall within my realm of research) think of Michelle Obama.

It's astonishing how many planes have had malfunctions or just plainly disappeared. Let's see there is approximately 3 from the same damn country two Malaysian airplanes and one Airasia at least these are the ones that are recent without mentioning the most recent one which is the Germanwings airline.

Breaking news: pilot can be heard trying to get back into the cockpit.......
The "experts" seem to think it was NOT suicide but that something happened to the co-pilot.

Would we ever find out if these new lighter composite/carbon fibre planes had design problems? Even i can check metal for cracks, but how the fcuk do you check sandwiched carbon fibre material for flaws? The drive to build lighter and lighter planes just so insolvent airlines (most are loss making) can save money seems abit scary to me. Is a lighter aircraft less stable in a storm? How does the thinner metal in the composite react from going to baking in the sun on the tarmac, to freezing temperatures at altitude?
I fink they should bring back the trusted old heavy clunkers which you could check with a kick of the tires and a small hammer. Anyway, that Kris Kristopherson geezer sure could drink for a lizard.
