(Florida) Man ate loads of MDMA then stole boat because ‘the swans don’t judge me’
A man who ate a ‘large quantity’ of MDMA tablets was arrested after getting stranded on an island, telling police, ‘The swans don’t judge me.’
Swans are very non-judgemental, to be fair. Keith Thurston, 36, was found sitting on a fountain in the middle of Lake Eola at 4am, police said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The police reported that he had taken a ‘large quantity’ of MDMA tablets, and ‘wanted to go be with the swans because they don’t judge him.’
Thurston had stolen a swan boat to get out to the island, but had failed to tie it up and it had drifted away. He was taken to hospital after the police found him screaming for help.

Phillip Winikoff, 81, Allegedly Impersonated Doctor, Performed Breast Exams
By David Lohr
An 81-year-old Florida man, who police say posed as a door-to-door physician and duped at least two women into having their breasts examined, has struck a plea deal with prosecutors.
Phillip Winikoff was charged in 2006 with three counts of sexual battery, two counts of practicing medicine without a license, two counts of simple battery and one count of using the title of doctor without a license.
Winikoff, of Coconut Creek, was 76 years old when police arrested him for fondling two women’s breasts and genitals while masquerading as a doctor giving free, unsolicited checkups in an apartment complex.
On Tuesday, his lawyers told Broward Circuit Judge Sandra Perlman that they had reached a deal with prosecutors. The attorneys were late arriving in court, so Perlman, who had another trial to oversee, said she would reschedule the plea hearing. No firm date was set, The Sun Sentinel reported.
Five years ago, Winikoff, carrying a black “doctor’s” bag, went to an apartment complex in Lauderdale Lakes. The phony doctor knocked on a unit belonging to a 36-year-old woman. He allegedly said he was visiting on behalf of a local hospital.
“He told the woman that he was in the neighborhood offering free breast exams,” Broward County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Hugh Graf said.
The unwitting patient let Winikoff into her apartment and he began the exam. After allegedly touching the victim’s chest, Winikoff moved an ungloved hand to the woman’s genitals and further molested her.
Suspecting that Winikoff was not a real doctor, the victim contacted the sheriff’s office. When deputies arrived, the white-haired, fake physician had already left. He did not go far, however. Instead of fleeing the area, Winikoff found another victim, a 33-year-old woman who lived in the same apartment complex as the first victim, police said.
The second victim told police a similar story, saying Winikoff had presented himself as a doctor who was in the area giving free breast exams. Again, the woman let Winikoff into her apartment and again, he allegedly sexually battered his victim.
Deputies later located Winikoff and took the phony physician into custody without incident.
Phillip Winikoff Criminal Complaint
According to Graf, Winikoff was not licensed to practice medicine. At the time of his arrest, he was employed at an automobile dealership as a shuttle driver.
In November, authorities in Idaho investigated a similar case, involving a 37-year-old woman who allegedly impersonated a plastic surgeon and conducted breast exams in local bars. The disposition of that case is not immediately clear.
Neither the prosecution nor the defense has commented on whether Winikoff’s plea deal includes any jail time. Had the case gone to trial, Winikoff would have faced up to 55 years behind bars.

Boy, 7, handcuffed after punching and kicking his teacher in Florida
Officials defend restraining the kindergarten student, but the child's mother says her son was subject to "police abuse".

The boy had repeatedly punched and kicked a teacher

Police take boy to hospital in cuffs
A seven-year-old boy has been handcuffed and removed from his school after repeatedly punching his teacher and grabbing her hair.
School officials say they followed protocol and that the child was restrained following aggressive behaviour.
The boy's mother, Mercy Alvarez, has claimed her son was subject to "police abuse" - and a video she recorded in the aftermath has been viewed nearly three million times.
"My heart's been broken," she said.
The boy's mother claims the police have abused her seven-year-old son
On Thursday, the teacher at the kindergarten in Miami, Florida, had told the boy to stop playing with his food and removed him from the cafeteria when he refused.
According to an incident report, the child hit the teacher repeatedly in the back - and continued punching and kicking her until they both fell on the ground. He then acted aggressively towards a police officer.
The seven-year-old had also punched students and staff members during another incident in November.
He was briefly hospitalised at Miami Children's Hospital under the Florida Mental Health Act following the latest incident, amid fears he could pose a threat to himself and others.
A video filmed by the boy's mother was circulated online

Although it was reported in local media that the boy was arrested, a school district spokeswoman later said he had been "restrained for transport".
Officials said the incident was seen by witnesses and caught on CCTV, and that the child's father had given permission for a psychiatric evaluation.
But father Roland Fuentes said he had been "in shock" after being called in after the incident.
"(They said) you know he's a danger to society," he said. "I said what? Seven years old? A danger to society?"

Officials have confirmed this is the second time the boy has been handcuffed
Ms Alvarez has said her son does not have a mental disorder, adding that he had behaved well and earned good grades in previous years.
She asked: "If my child wasn't aggressive anymore when we got there, like they were saying he was before, why take such extreme measures?
"This is too much for a boy that age to go through. It can't be a normal procedure."
Roland Fuentes, the boy's father, says he was 'in shock' over the incident

Ian Moffett, the school district's police chief, said it was rare for children of such a young age to be involuntarily institutionalised for a psychological evaluation, but that it was deemed necessary in the circumstances.
A statement said: "This action was warranted to prevent his erratic and violent behaviour from briging further harm to others or himself."
The teacher is planning to press charges, and the district's professional compliance unit is currently investigating the incident

A young boy became stuck in a machine in an amusement arcade while attempting to win a toy in Titusville, Florida.
Mason crawled through the machine's small door, where a prize would normally fall, to get hold of the stuffed toy.
An off-duty fire officer was eating in a nearby restaurant when he noticed Mason was trapped.
The boy sat calmly in the machine as it was pried open, the local fire department said.

Florida Man Arrested For Practicing Karate By Kicking Swans In The Head
A Florida man interested in karate is alleged to have found an elusive and illegal target for his kicks: bird faces. Last week, the Orlando Sentinel reported that Rocco Joseph Mantella was arrested for “practicing karate” by kicking swans in the head at a park in downtown Orlando, and further details of his arrest—which were first published by the Bloody Elbow—are wild as shit.
According to an Orange County (Fla.) arrest affidavit, Mantella was spotted by a few witnesses around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, kicking a bunch of animals. Someone saw him kick one swan in the head and another in the butt while “practicing karate.” His kicks were enough to knock one swan down, and a witness said he was kicking “as hard as possible.” Mantella also apparently targeted a small duck enjoying a morning nap. When one witness saw what he was doing, he apparently began to laugh at her.
Mantella was charged with one count of cruelty to animals, which carries a maximum sentence of six months in Florida.
Mantella has some experience fighting humans, as he wrestled for Indiana University, fought in an amateur MMA bout once, and almost made his pro MMA debut in 2012.
