what did u play as a kid?
Grew up mostly with farmland as our backyard. As little guys, we played games that usually involved running. Then later came records, girls, motors, drugs and musical instruments...in no particular order.

As kids, always played outside, usually involved doing something that could cause serious injury, but we all survived...no computer games, mobile phones, ipads or sitting in front of the tv. If I ever have children, I want them to have the same fun and adventures I did as a kid.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

We had a large open quarry in my village which, after 50 years, had become overgrown with trees etc. It had huge steep sides about 50 metres deep. It was used by the locals as a rubbish dump . not refuse but household items etc.
A favourite game was to get some tin baths and ride them down the slopes, the steepest inclines being the winners. Lots of broken bones and bruises came from that.

We had a few old quarries in the area, too.
I was maybe 12 when I started to learn to climb gritstone on quarried walls before moving out onto the crags and edges.

Exploring the countryside, museums, places of interest, footie, cricket, conkers, rambling, hiking, camping, collecting stamps; collecting shell coins, PG Tips cards, footballer cards & The Champions' cards, scrumping apples, pears & peaches. Later, I used to hitch-hike all over the country exploring archaeological sites, places associated with legends, great writers and so on. As a young kid, my dad took me to Hampton Court, Kew Gardens, York Minster, Rochester Castle ... probably that's where I got my interests from. I also got a packet of used postage stamps one birthday - never tired of collecting after that! I've still got some first editions of books at my nephew's. Ah, them wuz the days!

Grew up on the north coast of New South Wales. Spent most of my time surfing, fishing, spearfishing, skateboarding, then hunting as I got a bit older- around 15 or 16. Always found a way to make money washing cars and mowing lawns. Stealing vegetables and fruit from market gardens and selling them outside pubs was a great earner btw. Bought more fishing gear, surfboards and spearguns etc. Also figured out pretty quick that the girls were way more interested when you had earned your own money...Not a pocket-money loser... As time went on it just got more extreme...Never grown up I guess, and don't plan on it any time soon
Don't mention the Giant Panda in the room.

Oh, damaged (small) goods, eh?... chin up, we all have our cross to bear. I had an elder brother that could have given Stephen King ideas.agincourt wrote:I envy you gentleman. My childhood was unceremoniously stolen by men like the Rotund One ^.

Mentioning sausagesagincourt wrote: I only mentioned sausages?
and using this emoticon in the same sentence...can only lead to further assumptions.
