The point is all the figures at this stage are bullshit. Same as they were before the vote. We can all pick on one set or other that appears to support our perspective. But the world clearly hasn't ended. Yet.
The global economy is fucked, has been for ages but central banks, politicians and markets refuse to admit it and deal with it. The wheels are going to fall off and when they do Brexit, whether it has actually happened by then or not, will be somewhere between an irrelevance and a minor contributory factor.

That does sound a lot like 1) denial and 2) clutching at strawsalanclarke72 wrote:That's ridiculous. Stock markets are not in themselves indicators of economic activity, at least not in the short term. They are the results of speculative behaviour.
The PMI data is real economic activity. And it was reported everywhere including The Financial Times and Reuters.
You dismiss one set of data as not being representative or valid, but immediately seine upon another that seems to support your view. Please be consistent at least.

GlaxoSmithKline is to invest £275m into its UK manufacturing sites, saying the country remains "an attractive location" despite the Brexit vote.

Hope you'll bear with me, but I'd just like to put out a little warning to those who, as I do, trade on the markets.
The EU 'health check' report on European Banks is due out tomorrow evening, our time. The Italian Banks are in big trouble - as they have been for a long time (over 20 years). Even Deutsche Bank could likely be in trouble, and that will really rock markets, if it happens.
It has been incredibly badly timed, such that the report will be disclosed at 9pm GMT, which means that in the middle of the night (our time) the 'full facts' will hit the media. There is no 'pass or fail' so they will likely dress this up as an accident waiting to happen' which could (not) have been averted. Anyway, the market impact will not be unleashed until the open of the Nikkei at about 7AM on Monday morning (our time). Pre-market trading should begin about 6.
Again, just a warning to exercise caution - August is traditionally a short-position Month.
I may be completely wrong, and I hope I am. Happy trading!
That's all, folks. Thx.

UK manufacturing in biggest drop for three years in first full month post-referendum, despite rising in the first half of the year. Of course, this will be dismissed by JockJock as any data that doesn't fit his worldview is. But I put it out there anyway.

The most annoying is having to talk about this to any Brit you meet out there now, not that it ever felt they were real members of the EU anyway, driving on the left, using pounds for currency and all that.
It's just a bunch of paper pencil pushers shuffling office chairs and documents, the rest is fluffy clouds in the sky to the common man.
And the Brits are still much better off than other colonists out there, due to limes and all that. I'm sure they will be fine.

How do you fit that with the U.S ''surprisingly weak GDP growth'' just coming in at half of what was expected then dude?
Are you saying the Brexit has impacted the U.S economy aswell then? Highly unlikely no?

Please don't create arguments on my behalf and then attack me for positions I don't hold. That is intellectually fraudulent.
I have no interest in the US economy. The fact is Manufacturing PMI fell to its lowest level in three years in July, after a strong first half of the year. Anyone who has any business interests in the UK (I do) know for a fact that investment levels are down and uncertainty is up. People are holding off making large investment decisions for some reason. It is not beyond the realm of speculation that a lot of the uncertainty could be related to long term investors not knowing what the investment framework will be in 2 or so years time.
