He was not ' some celeb', he was one of the most talented musicians and personalities of our time, and the comparison with a junkie dying in Kampot or an old guy dying of a heart attack in some guest house is a bit off.YaTingPom wrote:Every time a celeb dies everyone goes ape shit to try and out do one another in their knowledge of said star or posting YouTube links of songs everyone knows.

ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
It is difficult to find much of Prince on You Tube, as he was very protective of his intellectual property rights, but I did find a 1982 concert, with poor picture and sound quality-obviously a pirate.
My 4 year old daughter watched it with me, danced through most of it and gave Prince, whom she had never heard before, a double thumbs up. It shows that class transcends age barriers.

There's a great video someone showed me on their facebook page of Bruce Springsteen opening a concert in NY with Purple Rain. A really faithful rendition.

Looks like prescription opiates & Benzos. Together they can suppress breathing. RIP.
Great article on Prince convincing the media to use his symbol instead of his name, by mailing media outlets floppy disks containing a font file with his symbol. Within 6 months, everyone was using it. Not many other musicians could make that happen.

When he was inducted into the rock hall of fame, Prince performed George Harrison's 'My Guitar Gently Weeps' with Harrison's son, Tom Petty and others. Prince had not heard of the song prior to being sent the score.

No disrespect to the dead, but when he died I listened to Purple Rain on the tubes.vladimir wrote:He was not ' some celeb', he was one of the most talented musicians and personalities of our time, and the comparison with a junkie dying in Kampot or an old guy dying of a heart attack in some guest house is a bit off.YaTingPom wrote:Every time a celeb dies everyone goes ape shit to try and out do one another in their knowledge of said star or posting YouTube links of songs everyone knows.

Absolutely terrible.
But he did have a unique look about him.
