I'm sick of the 3-4 Marvel movies they churn out each year. Complete and utter shit. Read somewhere that the reason these films are in high production is because they're meant to be "flop-proof". Whether it screens in New York or Shanghai they won't lose money on it. And that's the real problem in my eyes: the producers, high in their Hollywood Hill homes aren't willing to take risk with something innovative when they know that they can just recycle garbage and make a decent crust. Meanwhile the gutters of LA and full to the brim with writers who's ideas will never be tested. One of them probably has the next Matrix, Godfather, Rocky Horror ect. Shame...

Don't feel disheartened tuk-tukfish, I would argue that there's never been a better time to make a living as a writer or content creator. The gatekeepers no longer wield as much power anymore.tuk-tukfish wrote: Meanwhile the gutters of LA and full to the brim with writers who's ideas will never be tested. I heard that there is going to a Splash remake. The mermaid is going to be a man, so it won't actually be a mermaid, it will be a merman. That's the stupidest idea for a film ever.

There are far stupider ideas for films out there.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Obviously.pablomiguelgarcia wrote:Yeah, well I am not into to the whole film snobbery thing either... The stunts they did in the new Point Break are real good, and I am keeping it on my drive for now, as one of the few to watch again once in a while.
Best dialogue in it for me was when that annoying Australian woman was explaining to that annoying American FBI stunt man about how the Japanese eco warrior dude died. And I quote - "He positioned himself between a Norwegian whaling ship and a pod of humpback whales..." And who can forget lovable cockney wanker, Ray Winstone, as the portly British FBI agent?
And as for that brooding gang of bearded metrosexual French hipsters...
Great fucking movie...

Few movies where actors make it for me, mostly laughable as they throw their pappmache swords around, I hardly watch movies for anything than to check the scenography, stunts and post production, otherwise, it's the history and science youtube channels I spend most of my free time on. Spaghetti westerns have good acting imo, even though they were ridiculed when they first came out.
The stunts in that movie were made by real athletes, btw, not Tom Cruise and friends.

There are absolutely tons of movies being released.
It seems like a complaint about what Hollywood spends their marketing budget on rather than the movies they make.
If you don't just stick to what is in cinemas, you'll find some beauties.
