Tick tock, tick tock...

Coming up on the one year anniversary of the election that has divided and shaken this country like no other time since the Civil War, including the Vietnam War era and Nixon fiasco. Difficult to see Trump lasting a full four year term, but then again, many thought he wouldn't even survive his first year. He has one year to go until the mid-term Congressional elections which will probably take away Republican majority in the Senate, and possible even in the House (but not likely). Trump hasn't gotten any legislation passed through Congress as is. He can still push some of his agenda via Executive Order, as Obama and several recent presidents did before him. The next inevitable economic recession with increase in unemployment and/or stock market drop might speed his demise.
Dems are still hanging their hats completely on Russia-gate. They would much rather focus on Russia allegations than their current self-inflicted implosion, now that the former Dem Party leader admits in her new book that the Clintons were freely allowed to rig the game against Bernie Sanders from day one. Will Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner be the investigation's link to the administration's inner circle and then directly to the Donald? Mueller's transparent strategy.
Meanwhile, the California billionaire paying for all the "impeach Trump" TV adverts seems to be upping his pressure. I'm seeing his commercials more and more frequently this week, but mostly on CNN. Sounds like 'preaching to the choir" to me.

A bad week for Trump has just got a lot worse. The Britain First retweets and taunting Theresa May will be put on the backburner with the news that Michael Flynn is pleading guilty and doing a deal with the authorities which is likely to include testifying against Trump, members of Trump's family and senior Trump officials.
This will get messy. Oh to be a fly on the wall in the Oval Office right now.

It boggles my mind that any remotely sophisticated or educated American would every agree to be interviewed by the FBI about anything. It you say one mistaken thing they can charge with felony "false statements."Northern Monkey wrote:A bad week for Trump has just got a lot worse. Even if you want to cooperate, tell the FBI "Send your questions to my lawyer and my lawyer will tell you my answers."

It doesn't matter one bit what anyone alleges under oath in this case. Flynn can cooperate with the feds all they want. Threaten him and his son with long jail terms for "making false statements" and eventually you will get him to say whatever you want him to say. All that matters is what undisputable, documented proof of intentional illegal actions by Trump he can deliver. Flynn's future sworn testimony alone is useless in any trial, as he has pleaded guilty of lying to the FBI already. He will be blasted in the media as a proven liar by Trump's lawyers from here on out.
Without hard evidence, this is all just theater to justify the cost of the investigation. Trump better hope there isn't a proverbial jizz-stained blue dress in someone's closet with his DNA all over it. IF there is any genuine proof of illegal dealings by Trump out there, it is held by the Russians.

So are you sticking to that still?Harold wrote:I'll take credit for pointing out the obvious facts that Trump hasn't been colluding with the Russians, that PissGate is a hoax, and that the Clintons are in fact the ones who have had underhanded dealings with the Russians.
Between Harold's conspiracy theories and Edwardo's fluff pieces and Monday morning quarterbacking this thread isn't keeping up with events.
Oh yes, and your billingsgate rhetoric about Drumpf and his evil supporters is sooo enlightened by comparison.Nirvana wrote:Between Harold's conspiracy theories and Edwardo's fluff pieces and Monday morning quarterbacking this thread isn't keeping up with events.
By the way, it is you people who are the conspiracy theorists. It is you people who are making insane and unbelievable allegations about a conspiracy between President Trump and President Putin.

Apparently Trump will announce that under his administration the US will fully acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, thus inciting every Muslim on the planet. He will reportedly also vow to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem. I'm sure this will all end well with no intifada or violence whatsoever. Good luck making that peace deal now, son-in-law Jared. Let the peace and harmony begin!
That resolution is actually not a new US policy, but the official decision to move that embassy has been delayed by every president every 6 months since Bill Clinton. Sounds like Trump will be the first President to not sign another 6 month delay.
And if a bi-partisan agreement is not reached, the US government will shut down this Friday until another stopgap budget resolution is passed. But the executive branch would not be affected, in case you were worried. You can all sleep soundly. Trump will still be hard at work making America great again and whatnot.
What a week.

Can any of you beat Trump's regular Mcdonald's order? His turds must be like......Yuge!
Yuge!!!! Incredible!!!
The book reveals the order as: “Two Big Macs, two Fillet-O-Fish, and a chocolate malted.” Using McDonald’s own Nutrition Calculator, that adds up to a total of 2,430 calories, with 11g of fat. That one meal exceeds the recommended intake of calories and fat for a full day for a man of Trump’s age.

Spinelessness matched only by the lack of self-awareness.Harold wrote:Oh yes, and your billingsgate rhetoric about Drumpf and his evil supporters is sooo enlightened by comparison.Nirvana wrote:Between Harold's conspiracy theories and Edwardo's fluff pieces and Monday morning quarterbacking this thread isn't keeping up with events.
Weren't trying to hear about his documented history of being a shady conman and a grifter. Weren't trying to hear about his blatant racism. Weren't trying to hear about him being a sexual predator. Weren't trying to hear about him being pro-war. Weren't trying to hear about him knowing nothing about anything. And, weren't trying to hear that his supporters were driven by racial fears. Weren't trying to hear that it was the middle and upper classes in the Rust Belt that got him elected - not the "economic anxiety" of the working class.
Bless your heart.
I'm old enough to remember when 45 apologists mocked people for saying there were even Russian trolls on Twitter despite how obvious it was.By the way, it is you people who are the conspiracy theorists. Aaaanyhoo, Trump's FCC just repealed Net Neutrality. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way ... ntent=2043
Will be interesting to see a the little Drumpf (oooh there I go again!) fanboys meltdown over their "antiestablishment" hero forcing them to pay for Po*nhub.
