Interesting hit piece here abut Young Pioneer Tours, the "party" company that took Warmbier to North Korea.

Otto Warmbier
That's an interesting drawing. It reminds me of this notorious picture:Edwardo wrote:What? From the regime that despite all the devastating economic sanctions from all over the world continues to test nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles thus risking the alienation of China, their only lifeline? And yet you think possibly putting someone in horrendously painful stress positions for months on end leading to a coma is "too inflammatory for them"?violet wrote:I think it was probably a surprise to the NK too that he died....too inflammatory to torture/poison hm to death, even for them....don't you think?
How can you expect the DPRK to abandon their nuclear deterrence strategy when their enemy has a military base in Okinawa and military bases in South Korea? How do you honestly expect the DPRK to defend themselves if they come under attack? The United States has a long history of invading other countries in violation of international law. The United States also a long history of threatening the DPRK with nuclear annihilation. They threatened the DPRK with nuclear annihilation long before the DPRK started pursuing a nuclear weapons program of their own and they continue to make threats to this day. The United States also carries out war games exercises involving tens of thousands of troops nearby the borders of the DPRK.
It's a shame how much the people of the DPRK have to suffer but their suffering is to some extent inevitable when the state has to bankrupt itself to maintain a massive standing army and to pursue a nuclear deterrence strategy and also because much of the rest of the world has sanctions on the DPR Korea and the DPRK has largely been cut off from the world financial system. It is very difficult for such a small country to be self-reliant.

It says "declined a post-mortem examination" - shouldn't they want that examination to determine the cause?ricecakes wrote:Um....because they want to know the cause of death ?Miguelito wrote:Strange. Although not as odd as Kim Jong's brother getting a handful of the deadliest most toxic poison on earth where even a microscopic spec can kill you - and yet nobody else died or had any ill effects from it.

As I mentioned in the other thread, Otto's tour company Young Pioneer Tours is geared towards young partiers. They also operate another company called GN Tours (gross negligence tours) that does stag parties, including the babes bullets and booze package in Cambodia and the ladyboy rental package in Thailand. The Washington Post has picked up on that.
I suspect Young Pioneer Tours will now try to distance itself from GN Tours and vice/versa. They probably shouldn't have used Young Pioneer Tours as the registrant for the gntours.com website.

I'm sorry for what happened to him, but more importantly, I hope it will teach others a lesson. US students really shouldn't visit North Korea for their amusement. And his father is such a douche; it almost makes it impossible to sympathize with him despite his terrible loss.
Some new details into the final days of Otto Warbier not made public before have been revealed by his parents. His parents report the boy's teeth "looked like they had been rearranged with pliers" upon his return to the US in an anguished, unresponsive state. He also had a wound on his foot that appeared to have been allowed to fester untreated for many months. The obvious conclusion is that they tortured the fuck out of this kid. I understand his parents have been through hell and are devastated, but for them to have refused an autopsy on the corpse was a bit unfortunate and somewhat unreasonable. Any professional medical insight into what their son endured during his horrendous ordeal should be exposed, and if by some miracle he wasn't tortured nearly beyond recognition and died of (somewhat) less sinister reasons, that should come to light too.
The US finally and sensibly banned Americans from going to NK, where they would only be more potential pawns and bargaining chips for the regime when the inevitable military clash kicks off, which seems unavoidable at this point. The North is claiming that Trump "has declared war", and that they therefore have the right to shoot down US airplanes even if they are not over NK territory. Assuming NK has some advanced Russian or Chinese anti-aircraft missile systems, this is a genuine threat. A shot down US plane would surely lead to serious military response strikes from the US, resulting in all out war.
I didn't get this post until I saw the interviews the parents have been doing lately (yesterday). I wouldn't go so far as to call the father "a douche", but noticeably bizarre behavior/responses on his part during the interviews, even taking into consideration his terrible circumstances. His responses weren't odd in an emotional sense, but just overall strange.Alex wrote:I'm sorry for what happened to him, but more importantly, I hope it will teach others a lesson.
