I wonder what Nate Diaz is thinking about Mcgregor's gigantic pay day considering his boxing was so effective in their first fight that in the 2nd fight Mcgregor resorted to something he hadn't used alot before - leg kicks.
Mcgregor seems to have had a 4 inch plus reach advantage in most of his MMA fights and i believe has never fought pro in boxing.

The great sport of boxing reduced to this rubbish. What a travesty.

You're spot on - I will watch it second hand for sure, it is a freak match and frankly I'm in two minds on which outcome I'd prefer:Jamie_Lambo wrote:its entertaining, thats the whole point, its a fight for the fans, even the haters will watch it, maybe not live, but they will
1. A victory for old fashioned professional boxing vs UFC pretenders - nearly every KO I've seen in UFC is the result of the loser having nearly zero defensive qualities from the bell, let alone the KO punch.
2. A victory for the "blood & guts" pub brawler & massive underdog; it's Rocky vs Apollo & I've got Burgess Meredith shouting in my ears!
For me the answer is quite simply a case of how long Mayweather wants to play around & drag it out - I can't see McGregor winning even with a lucky hay maker. Despite all his wealth flaunting, narcissism, egomaniac attributes, you have to remember that Mayweather came from a fairly torrid background of poverty & abuse and thus underneath that flashy facade is a guy who will have clearly been in some unprofessional & dirty scraps also. More recently there's been a lot of criticism of Mayweather winning by boxing clever on the points system & walking away with a unanimous points decision - but he's knocked out 26 of his 49 opponents, you better believe McGregor isn't the only one who can end the fight early.
My money is Mayweather with a KO in whichever round he gets bored - a combination of being the superior boxer; plus McGregor hasn't got a hope in hell of going the distance simply from an endurance preparation stand point. He'll go hard & fast early doors, but once out of puff Mayweather will just pick him off.
And you can argue these are different bags & objectives, but ...
Disclaimer: I know sod all about boxing!

Conor wins the second promo date of the tour by a landslide lol what a show lol
Agree spigsy, conor will go hard for the first 4-5 rounds, then blow himself out and will be easy pickings for mayweather
But if conor goes all out first 4/5 rounds blows himself out and mayweather fails to knock him out and Conor some how survives the 12 rounds that will also be a big win for Conor regardless of the result lol

Hmm that's what was suppose to happen in the Horn & Pacquiao fight.
11 years difference between Floyd and Conor!

Mayweather better watch out for the headbutts during clinches. I expect a lot of holding on and grabbing by the Scotsman to try to avoid the jab.

yup, if Horn can go toe to toe for 12 rounds with Manny who is much more of a KO artist than Floyd,Kuz wrote:McGregor hasn't got a hope in hell of going the distance simply from an endurance preparation stand point. Conor does have a slim chance of doing the same,
you can be fit as fuck in the gym, but being ring fit is a completely different thing,
and Mayweather has ring-rust, but his defence is unmatched
i can see Conor getting under Mayweathers skin enough to turn it into a 6 rounds dog fight (i hope)
i'm a big Conor fan, but i do fully expect a Mayweather win,
but as you said i fully expected Manny to KO Horn in 6 rounds
whilst the result is pretty predictable (logically) how and why, is what makes this fight entertaining,

Horn & Pacquiao are both boxers, they train to go the distance - UFC is an explosive "sport" that only goes 5 rounds, and the average duration of the entire fight is a mere 10 mins. To me it's like asking Usain Bolt to become a marathon runner overnight. I've got no doubt he could do it to a decent level if you gave him a year or so, but not in the time McGregor has to prepare for this fight.Kuz wrote:Hmm that's what was suppose to happen in the Horn & Pacquiao fight.Spigz wrote:McGregor hasn't got a hope in hell of going the distance simply from an endurance preparation stand point. As for 11 years; I refer the honourable gentleman to Foreman vs Moorer ... there's life in some old dogs yet!

Andy Bowen against Jack Burke on april 6th 1893. The longest boxing match ever fought took place in New Orleans on Apr. 6, 1893. The match was between Andy Bowen and Jack Burke, both of whom claimed the lightweight title after the reigning champ, Jack McAuliffe, retired. The winner-take-all purse was set at $2,500, and in order to decide who was really the new champion, the match was to be fought to a finish.
All through the contest, the fighters went at each other aggressively, pounding each other with their gloves, inflicting and sustaining tremendous punishment. Yet, as the 3-min. rounds wore on, neither fighter could put the other away. The incredible bout continued far into the night, lasting over seven hours in all. When the bell sounded for the 111th round, both fighters, dazed and weary, gave up and did not come out of their corners. At that, the referee unbelievably ruled the bout "no contest." Burke never fought again. Bowen fought only one more match; he died after being knocked out in 18 rounds.
