Steely Dan was a unique band. Rather unlikely rock stars. Walter Becker was innovative and definitely had his own style. Early to mid seventies music is the best period for rock, in my opinion. He died today at age 67. RIP.

Another founding member of Steely Dan has been doing some things you won't believe. Jeff "The Skunk" Baxter, who left Steely Dan to join the Dooibie Brothers, now has a Top Secret security clearance with the U.S. Defense Department. He has been a consultant for Missile Defense since he wrote a paper back in the '80s discussing a few different topics, based on his knowledge of sound waves. Seriously, I kid you not.
He also appears occasionally with the 'Coalition of the Willing' band,
In the mid '80s he did a tour demonstrating the new Roland synth guitar and I went along. Just playing in the pub, very informal, maybe 200 people
