Mass shooting in Las Vegas
As an Australian I used to be the first defend America and champion its causes, not any more.
I now believe the USA to be an embarrassment. The richest country in the world with the highest cost of healthcare for its citizens, retarded attitudes toward gun control, the majority of the population seemingly stupid (how else do you end up with a president like Trump in a democracy), highest incarceration rates in the world where people can draw a felony charge for having a small amount of pot, repeated mistakes in the geopolitical arena (particularly entering Iraq), removing yourself from the Paris accord... and on it goes.
The USA has completely lost my respect. I now laugh at the country that once stood for so many good things. WTF happened America?

Felony for a small amount of pot? No. Not in reality. Also, many states have legal recreational. My buddy just walked into a store in, well, Las Vegas last week, showed his Arizona drivers license. Bought pot. Amazing.
Healthcare - yeah, it sucks. If you got decent insurance, it is the best in the world. Software engineers at Google aren't complaining about Healthcare, for example. But our insurance system does fuck us.
Guns - yeah, but should you be getting so self righteous? Australia banned guns and your homicide rates stayed the same. Sure, gun related deaths dropped, but your homicide rates remained. Also, from what I read, you all still have a slight gun violence problem.
Also, your gun ban, while good on paper, created a state where police snipers were so fearful of your governments over reach on firearms, they let innocent hostages die because they quoted that although they had a clear shot to kill the hostage taker, they were afraid of being charged with murder. Wow. Had the clear shot, hesitated, guy killed hostages..... With a gun.
Next point - how many Infantry did Australia send to Iraq and Afghanistan? Right. Moving on...
For profit prisons need to close. We agree.
Paris Accord was highly unfair to the USA in terms of required funding expected.
Yes, our population is stupid when compared to average Aussie. How would we ever compare?
Bali or bust, mate
Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.

Do some reading. I'll help ya. Let me know when you are done on this and I'll educate you a little more on some other crap that seems to have lodged itself in your head. Actually, I can't be bothered.
Last year a Reuters analysis of Australian Bureau of Statistics figures showed that in 1996, Australia had had 311 murders, of which 98 involved guns. In 2014, when the population had increased from about 18 million to 23 million, 238 people were murdered, 35 by guns.
In other words, the likelihood of being murdered by gunshot fell by 72 per cent in that period, from 0.54 to 0.15 per 100,000 people, Reuters said.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world ... 80671.html
From 1979 to 1996, the average annual rate of total non-firearm suicide and homicide deaths was rising at 2.1% per year. Since then, the average annual rate of total non-firearm suicide and homicide deaths has been declining by 1.4%, with the researchers concluding there was no evidence of murderers moving to other methods, and that the same was true for suicide.

Cambodia is safer than any American ghetto or country music concert by far!

Not in my scope of expertise, but I would sa this:DetroitMuscle wrote:
As a lawyer, I don't know if this is in your scope of expertise, Gavin. but.... - Can the immediate family/those affected by the crazy gunman sue said gunman's estate in, would it be probate court? Or would they file a civil wrongful death and sue for emotional damages and punitive as well? How does this work on a mass scale. Would it be beneficial for the first victim's family to sue right away to get a big piece of killer's estate? Or do they wait and give every victim's family ample time to file suit and divide it up somewhat evenly?
The $100,000 was sent before he shot everyone. If he sent it to himself in the Philippines, to an account in his name, it's potentially subject to seizure. If he sent it to her as a gift, it's not. The could ask her to give it back. She could refuse.
If this guy had an estate, then I think someone representing victims could make a claim in the probate proceedings and I think a judge would freeze any payouts until that's resolved.
The only benefit to filing a lawsuit immediately is so that the hack attorney who slaps together a complaint this week and files it can claim to be in charge, and representing all victims, and try to get everyone lined up behind him as clients.
If Mandalay Bay is smart, they will immediately file a motion to dismiss that lawsuit and try to get a favorable ruling on key issues early on, when the case is Idiot Unprepared Hack Attorney v. Mandalay Bay, et al.
Cases get harder to defend once good, thoughtful lawyers with other clients get involved.

Filipina girlfriend Marilous Danley apparently returned to the USA last night for FBI questioning. Why, I have no idea. There's no mention of her having a lawyer.
The authorities are itching to arrest SOMEONE over this. The gunman is dead. The Orlando shooter's wife was arrested. The Tsarnaev brothers' roommates talked to cops and then were arrested for tampering with evidence.
I'm reading that Danley was married to two men at once and used two social security numbers. They will comb through her entire life and find everything she has ever done wrong and charge her with it. And they'll also charge her wth lying to federal officers because when they ask her questions like "Were you married to two men at once? Did you use two different social security numbers?" she'll probably give a false answer.
If she wanted to helpful she could have told them "come to the Philippines and I'll answer your questions."
Flying 15 hours to submit to a jet lagged interrogation by the FBI about one of the worse crimes in American history, without a lawyer, is just not smart.

Not smart, but unless she was somehow complicit I don't imagine they'll charge her. Whatever happens, I hope she can shine some light on the motive for this mysterious crime.

I think you're being a bit naive, and that their definition of "complicit" may be broader than yours.Lucky Lucan wrote:Not smart, but unless she was somehow complicit I don't imagine they'll charge her.
She's getting arrested for something. If it's for involvement in this, all the better. If not, they'll find something.
A lot of people think they have nothing to hide and have a "clean conscience" and then after they are interrogated by the FBI they find themselves charged with crimes.

Unfortunately, she may have to undergo so serious crap if she's to clear her name.
Sophisticated? I think we can safely rule that out. Calculated? Probably not.
Obedient? Maybe so.
She may have some long-range plans, as she seems to want to return to clear her name in order to return to the U.S.
Maybe she has family or interests in the U.S.
She seems, initially, completely innocent to me.
Probably served that property owning accountant with a 20-year but without incident hobby of collecting dangerous firearms all his meals and wiped his tush, too, like a true domestic woman with all her needs fulfilled and paid by him.
I think she'll be let go, unless the police are desperate for a collar.
Stephen Paddock had recent gambling losses. Maybe a recent diagnosis for the 64-year old accountant, who never really lived out his macho man fantasies?
It seems to me, with his clean record and many guns, he probably respected the police, so he offed himself so he didn't have to shoot any cops. (Besides the one security guard when they may have surprised him in the hotel room, initially.)
Why he would massacre his "own people" at a country music festival is beyond me. Some grudge against simple, country folks with pick ups, guns, and a farm?
He was calculated, wealthy, and smart.
Maybe he desperately wanted to go out with a bang, but didn't want to make an issue of race or terrorism to cloud his last hurrah?
Many questions left unanswered, I hope we question and exonerate that girlfriend, and use mental health to identify future nutjobs (Pedros, logos, Marmite, and a few others). Just kidding, haha. I'm glad you nuts can vent here.

all those that are raving about guns killing people, how about cars and trucks?
the preferred method in Europe and the UK..
or suicide bombers?
its not the method of murder, its the insanity of man
Mentioned today on BBC he had no intention of dying, Wonder how they figured that out. Also mentioned his gun buying spree started last oct so something happened than...

There's alot of talk in the media that the gunman needed help with the attack and could not have acted alone. Naturally now all eyes are on the filipino girl which frankly i find ridiculous.
Filipino girls are not interested in shooting up crowds of people at country and western concerts ffs. They are interested in deep fried spam, spam hotdogs, spam and cheese, spam with rice, fried chicken with rice, playing cards and gossiping. They are interested in getting to the promised land - Amelica, and getting a house with a white picket fence with a Cadillac parked outside.
Gunman - ''Hey honey. You wanna help me with the biggest shooting massacre in U.S history?''
Filipino girl - ''Are you clazy!? You not take your medication or what? Too mut gamble no good. You need to come to Philippines and relax, is totally amazeballs.
You eat lice alleady?''
