Steven Smith has just been stood down as captain
Breaking news: Cricket Australia have stood down Steven Smith as Australia captain for the Cape Town Test. Warner too is no longer the vice-captain. Tim Paine will be leading the team against South Africa
Over the ball-tampering incident and the Australian Government calling for him to be replaced.

How the hell they thought they could get away with ball tampering with 500 cameras and 60,000 people watching is mindboggling. Why the Umpires allowed play to continue with a tampered ball is unfathomable.

Smith has also been fired as captain of the IPL team he was involved in.

I just love this response from Broady. (I'm a Notts' fan, so please forgive the slight bias.)
Just from the outside, it looks like Australia have started a lot of fights and then [are] moaning when someone comes back.

I'd like to engage with some Australian cricket fans. How do they feel?

Breaking news: Steven Smith has been suspended for one Test by the ICC. Here we go, the escalation begins

Oh man, I couldn't believe my eyes when I got up and checked the cricket news first thing in the morning. How could Stev.... Zzzzz zzzzzz zzzzz
Typical bloody Aussie cricketer, wouldn’t do the honourable thing and walk, had to be given out.
Should be banned from cricket for life, set an example.
Let him rot on unemployment corner with that British cheat Wiggins.

Spigzy,
Sir Bradley only took drugs cos he is a life long sufferer of asthma and respiratory problems. He took them to cure a medical problem. Just check out the vid below. Not sure wos going on with his eyebrows though.
Did we lose the ashes in the end then?

Quite the coincidence that both Team Sky members and Tour de France winners Wiggins and Froome both have asthma wouldn't you say?spitthedog wrote:Spigzy,

Maybe they should rename to Team Armstrong.
None but ourselves can free our mind.
In 2012 Wiggins released an autobiography entitled 'My Time'. He makes no mention in it of ever suffering from asthma.
Overcoming medical problems would, I would have thought, been quite a high profile part of any sportsman discussing his career in a book...
Worse, his later, leaked, medical records show that he received a TUE for Triamcinolone before the 2011 Tours de France.
Triamcinolone is a prescription anti-asthma & was the drug of choice of the disgraced Lance Armstrong for weight loss...

we'll see what else the investigation reveals in terms of who else was involved and/or knew about it but lengthy bans will probably follow...
many australian cricket followers who've long been critical of the culture around this team and the michael clarke led one will be hoping for an overhaul...
i'd be surprised if the likes of smith and warner recovered from lenghthy bans...
