Trump and Kim to meet in Singapore
Looks like the meeting will happen on June 12th in Singapore. I wonder if I’m the only person that sees humor in the two of them meeting in an authoritarian state.
It's all a ploy to get both of them out of their respective countries so dual Coup d'état can occur.

Ever been there? It’s hardly authoritarian, hasn’t been for 20 years. The ruling party is sometimes a bit sleazy when trying to maintain its stranglehold on power, but it knows it’ll lose the election one day.Miguelito wrote:Looks like the meeting will happen on June 12th in Singapore. Hey, I think it’s great there, and more countries would be better off had they gone down similar paths. But I’m also not the representative of a country that claims to be the “leader of the free world” that continually berates, penalizes and sanctions other countries for their “lack of a democratic process”. If I were, and I was holding a summit with the authoritarian dictator of North Korea, I would choose another (albeit successful) authoritarian state to host the very symbolic meeting.Starving Pelican wrote:Ever been there? As I said, it’s hardly authoritarian. Definitely not in the same way NK is - it’s actuslly a democracy. Maybe it’s better to hold the meeting in a small unimportant city-state known as probably the most neutral one in the region, than hold it in one of the contentious, fully-fledged democracies nearby.Miguelito wrote:Hey, I think it’s great there, and more countries would be better off had they gone down similar paths. I was watching the tail end of an interview on Bloomberg with one of their researchers. Don’t even know what it was about but at the end they’re just chatting and the anchor mentions Trump and the other guy said something along the lines of America got what it deserves in a president and whoever is elected often reflects the current feeling (zeitgeist) at the time. (But he put it more eloquently)
I thought it was quite poetic and very true.
