I'm surprised to read that, a friend from that neck of the woods told me recently that was how he did it, but I'm pretty sure he quoted much higher prices, like $20 CAD a gram or something. Maybe that was for some high grade shit, he mentioned it being very strong.kansaicanuck wrote:[q For as low as $89 CAD (65 usd) you can have an OZ of high grade shipped next day to your door...

65bucks an oz high grade.. i think Kansaicanuck is talkin' thru a hole in his bong.
$20/gram in Canada has been the price since forever, buying off your dealer though, can't say myself about the medicinal stuff.Lucky Lucan wrote:I'm surprised to read that, a friend from that neck of the woods told me recently that was how he did it, but I'm pretty sure he quoted much higher prices, like $20 CAD a gram or something. ^Well proof is in the pudding gents.
The average price per g is nowhere near $20. Average is between $5-$10 g.
Quite a good article here -
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/statist ... -1.4524891
As I said above " For as low as $89" - See here -
https://www.budgetbuds.net/product-cate ... erby=price This is probably the cheapest aroud. Their highest price per oz is $119 - so $4.25 per g. Delivered to your door anywhere in Canada. There are hundreds of similar online mail order businesses now, so take a quick look yourselves.
https://www.topleaf.ca/store/flowers?pr ... =low_price
https://www.budexpressnow.ca/product-category/cannabis/
https://ganjaexpress.ca/product-categor ... ds-online/
At any rate the main argument here is if the illegal trade in weed will still thrive with current legal prices or not. In my opinion legalizing cannabis will have a huge impact on the illicit weed trade as prices for a legit product are so low there is no need to deal with any shady element anymore. Additionally it will be up to each province to do their own pricing, so it will be their own faults if they prices things too high, keeping the illegal trade going.

Proof of what? You are arguing the price of legal weed in canada is low ($5-$10 per gram), based on that article? But that article is about standard illegal weed, not about the brand new legal recreational weed (not yet officially priced or available anywhere) nor is it about available medical weed (which gets minimal tax levied on it). Recreational weed from a dispensary will be much more expensive than both of the other options due to taxes and regulation compliance costs. The only cheap weed available to everyone without a doctor's prescription will be the home grown weed, and it's not as easy to grow quality weed as people think, especially not in Canada, unless you splurge on decent indoor growing gear.kansaicanuck wrote:^Well proof is in the pudding gents.

Cannabis has been relatively accessible to medical patients in Canada for quite some time. As a result, the average price of an ounce is lower than in most parts of the United States. According to a sample size of 24,803, the average price of an ounce is $202.54 USD. The latest market quotation from Canada has an ounce of high-grade Cherry Pie at about $291 USD and an ounce of Sour Diesel that costs about $238 USD.

I'm not sure where the disconnect is for you? It's not just based on that article, but the further links I posted and of first hand knowledge. Did you bother to click on any of the other links that I supplied? The four others I supplied are for "recreational dispensary" weed. These places already exist, and are selling for the prices I have quoted which you can see in their brick and mortar shops or online if you bother to click and see. Many more of these places will be properly licenseable once legalization kicks in, but that depends on the province. So are you saying that come October all of these places are going to either disappear or jack their prices way up due to tax? Maybe a little bit, but at 1$ tax per 10$ g and 10% on purchases over 10$ seems not too bad. Where are are you getting that the prices of recreational weed will be 'much' more expensive than it already is? The official medical (aready legal) prices are about $7 a g. Is anything between 5-12$ a gram expensive?McPhisto wrote:Proof of what? You are arguing the price of legal weed in canada is low ($5-$10 per gram), based on that article? Anyway here is a link from the Star which says the government is aiming for around 10$ per g.

I have read nothing that indicates that the new legal recreational market will be way over priced. Maybe ill end up completely wrong and it would be a shame if they fucked the whole thing up by overpricing everything. We'll seeThe ministers pegged the cost at about $10 a gram. Each gram of marijuana would have a tax of $1 on sales up to $10 and a 10-per-cent tax on sales worth more than $10.

McPhisto wrote:"Prices have gone down considerably"...from what? From their initial prices after legalization? What are you comparing? Legal dispensaries can only reduce their costs by so much, as taxes and cost of regulation compliance aren't ever going down. The cost of illegal weed will always be lower than legal weed. Always. You make it sound like all weed will be legalized.Gardiguy wrote:Good answer, thank you. And I thought everyone was cheering the end to the "failed US-led war on drugs". If the crackdown on illegal weed decreases, the cost of the illegal weed then decreases due to less risk while the cost of legal weed stays artificially "high".
Prices have dropped in Colorado and Oregon though. He is correct. When something is illegal, there is going to be the "tax" put on it by dealers for the risk of going to prison.

Black market marijuana growers expect the death of their cash cow after legalization
Like Jack, Stuart figures underground growers have a couple of years at most before the illegal industry is wiped out.
"Everybody in my circle is trying to figure out what's next — a lot of us are waiting to see which way the wind blows. The black market has two or three more years in it."

Picked up many an Oz here in Oregon for $50 plus 20% tax for $60 total. Very nice buds. Purple Hindu Kush (Phk) 26% thc and Snowland (swl) 31%thc. This pot shop is on the coast near my casa. https://www.leafly.com/dispensary-info/ ... rce-center There are cheaper deals in Salem and Portland. It's been that way for awhile. (Edit to add.) I think Canada opens with roughly 120 recreational outlets today. There are more stores than that in greater Portland alone. I remember buying a quarter ounce of Blue Dream (Bd) 16% thc in Denver for $35 in 2016. Now there are many $69 to $90 ounce deals in Colorado. Inspected for pesticides, mold, etc. legal weed comes with a harvest date, farm and grow location along with a relevant breakdown on thc and cbd info. I know alot of people that grow there own here but they all admit that they can not grow it cheaper than whats on offer recreationally.

Seems odd the legal age to buy pot in Alberta and Quebec is 18 years but 19 years for the rest of the country. Goddam stoners

It's the same with alcohol. Each province sets their own drinking age. Manitoba has 18 as their drinking age but I seen their cannabis age is 19. Federally pot is legal now but the moat rules are all set T the provincial level so it will be a bit different throughout the country. I think Quebec is trying to ban home growing, although under federal law it is legal.kinard wrote:Seems odd the legal age to buy pot in Alberta and Quebec is 18 years but 19 years for the rest of the country.
