Brexit is just a giant lollipop, to keep the masses at bay. I am sure, apart from a bit of office furniture getting moved around, there will be little change in a few years, except for the older generations voting for it, being dead.

Maybe the older generations remember WW2 and trying to stop Germany becoming a superstate? Maybe they like being a citizen of a sovereign nation? I think you're getting your views on the matter from CNN, right?newnewnewbie wrote:Brexit is just a giant lollipop, to keep the masses at bay. I think we're in a whole different era altogether. It's in the interest of all the Western nations to keep control of the Middle East oil fields, the gaslines going through there, and Afghanistan which have unlimited resources and a strategic hotspot. I'd be more worried about Russia, believe me, after flying Aeroflot without access to even a cold beer.

Not everything is and should be about money. What about the cultural aspects? You dismiss history and the sense of belonging felt by the older generations whose lives, as well as their ancestors, were profoundly shaped by that history.newnewnewbie wrote:I think we're in a whole different era altogether.

Do you realize that there are thousands of news organizations all over the planet, and that the Brits actually have some of their own? It may be a big surprise to you too, but there is a big world outside of the CNN-Fox / Democrats-Republicans dichotomy.Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: I think you're getting your views on the matter from CNN, right?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Yeah, I made the mistake of thinking he (assuming his gender) was American...Lucky Lucan wrote:Do you realize that there are thousands of news organizations all over the planet, and that the Brits actually have some of their own? Language groups don't disappear that easy, but looking at recent history, which is well documented, we see the exchange of cultural habits happen quite quickly. Look at how the younger generations pick up English from the internet, and Halloween for example, which I am no personal fan of, seems to be everywhere. I could not get rid of it on the Youtube, however much I wanted to.Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote:Not everything is and should be about money. What about the cultural aspects? It must happen. That is what the people have decided.

I always have to laugh when I see that idiotic line "the people have decided".springrain wrote:It must happen. That is what the people have decided.

Do you mean the 20 million clueless idiots who swallowed Boris Johnson and Nigel farage's blatant lies about how much better life will be when Britain is great again? where is that bus with the banner "300 million pounds a week to the NHS"?
I wonder how much of it was orchestrated by Russians with that sleazy guy Bannon. They certainly had Britain's best interests at heart
Yeah, blame the Russians and Steve Bannon for the Brexit vote. You imbecile.logos wrote:I wonder how much of it was orchestrated by Russians with that sleazy guy Bannon. They certainly had Britain's best interests at heart
Fuck off, "McPhisto". That cold weather affecting you badly huh ?
You should try and get a life rather than spitting your pathetic venom. When was the last time you got laid ?

A disturbing dynamic has been created here that will plague Britain for years. The 'false dichotomy'; 50/50, based on a yes/no vote in a bid to 'simplify a complex issue.'
Goodbye consensus.

The EU isn't offering multiple Brexit options to pick and choose which parts of the union the UK wants to keep. In or out are all there is. It's not a false dichotomy when there are only 2 options available to you.kinard wrote:A disturbing dynamic has been created here that will plague Britain for years.
