No one has called anyone a "Commie", or anything else. Just presented a point of view that is good for "My" country even if you don't agree with it.

Is this on topic?
Saturn’s moon is an alien DEATH STAR. Iapetus is a massive alien base. The 'mountain range' suggests two pieces were welded together. Death Star and Iapetus have the same crater ontop. Iapetus is hexagon-shaped which has some questioning where it came from. It was made from scratch' by an alien civilisation and looks identical to a fictional artificial weapon. Many experts claim Iapetus is the alien Death Star, as it is actually two separate pieces welded together to form one massive artificial structure-- just like the one in Star Wars, more evidence Tyler says proves it’s an artificial object. There are some very prominent researchers out there...

This question still begs an answer. Why is it just fine for Russia and China to pursue space based weapons systems and not OK for America to do the same? The only answer I see is because, in some eyes, anything America does is wrong?

As someone else mentioned: what was the result of Reagan's Star Wars?

Kind of like the Green New Deal, that will make all the green energy people rich and put America's great great great great grandchildren so far in debt they will never see the light of day? $70,000,000,000,000. Again, you would like to put America behind the other super-powers. And if it is a "Hare-brained scheme, why are Russia and China investing in it? I know, everyone thinks like rabbits.Hanno wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 5:54 pmBecause it is another hare-nrained scheme that will line the pockets of a few defence contractors rich?Johnsell50 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 5:18 pmThis question still begs an answer. For starters, the hastened financial collapse of the Soviet Union who were also feverishly building a space-based misslie defense system at the time.

Not to mention scientific breakthroughs in the technology of high-powered lasers including the intense energy supplies requried for them to work, and missile tracking technology, which are the basis of the new US aircraft carrier missile protection platforms.

From what I understand, the Star Wars program was mostly bluster but it had a serious payoff because the nomenklatura took it seriously and it had a seriously demoralizing effect as they believed that it would take decades for the Soviets to catch up to the Americans.
Dollar for dollar it was probably one of the most successful defense initiatives in US history.
McPhisto can you copy and paste the WSJ article? It is unfortunately behind a paywall.

The ground based midcourse defense (GMD) system that is deployed in the U.S. was crazy expensive and probably wouldn't even work. I mean, it could take down one or two missiles, in theory, but there's no way it could successfully defend from an actual attack, and everyone knows this. Yet, just the cost to test one of these missiles (which happens every few years, with about a 50% success rate) can be up to $250 million. For a test!
