Ali Baba , yes peanuts are cheap but one also needs to eat other nuts as well , for variety and different oils n proteins n vitamins n whatever else they provide, walnuts, almonds , avocados, chestnuts , etc.
Berries are classed as superfoods and in vegan land not all fruits are created equal. Likewise veg, one cannot survive on just carrots n potatoes, there needs to be a variety of colour as well as different types of veg, root n leaves plus the cruc... type which I do not know how to spell such as cauliflower n broccoli.
Seeds add more to a diet which is why a lot of breads now include seeds n not just grains.
In order to get all the nutrition from ones food a vegan needs to eat 5 times a day inc at least 5 different fruits, citrus, starch n berries as well as basic apples.
Five different types of veg inc leaf, root and stem.
Plus a couple of servings of nuts n seeds and of course bread, pasta, rice, lentils, beans and potatoes.
