A couple of very important games at the moment. India look well on top against SA - the Saffers really do need a result here (they are currently 158-7 off 39.3). A cracking game beckons in NZ v Bangla. I reckon either of those two could lift the trophy with a bit of luck going their way.
NZ have opted to field first - a wise choice, imho, as the pitch has a tinge of green and there is cloud overhead - perfect conditions for the NZ attack.
Who knows? What a lovely game!

South Africa are having a go, you know. They really are. India crawling along at 3.56 an over, with Kohli gone for 18. India need just over 5 an over on a pitch which has rarely got up to that mark.
Game on! In the other game, Bangla' on course for about 240-50. Also, anybody's game.

NZ looked very ordinary but will gladly take the win. These two sides last met in Feb/March but the Banglas' tour was curtailed because of the ChCh mosque tragedy
Today it's Aust.vs W. Indies at Trent Bridge and If the Windies play like they have been of late, with authoritah and big scores, they will be my pick to go all the way.
A good test for Aust. this one.

Wow, what a start! The first ball went for 5 wides, but since then the Windies have bounced (mostly) out 5 wickets. 80-5 Australia (or 5-80 if you prefer). Smith still there, fighting, looking calm amidst the chaos all around him.
Maybe he has a plan up his sleeve! (Do you think that one belongs in vlad's pun thread?)

Back in the day, when they wore white uniforms and the bowlers rubbed the red ball against their right nut, polish the ball, and left a red stain. when Cricket was Cricket.
Honest buggers then. These days its sandpaper and goodness knows what else.

Australia have made an amazing recovery from 80-5 to finish on 288 thanks to Coulter-Nile's 92.
You have to admire Australia's grit (NOT an intentional pun - it just came out, I promise - It just can't be helped).
I think they will win this contest tonight. But who knows in the lovely game?

I think that they are 30 runs too short.............. but great to see WI back to playing competitive cricket. It wasn't that long ago when we were all bemoaning the death of them!
Well done Aust., a great quick slog from Coulter-Nile and Starc takes first 5 wicket haul of the cup, good stuff.
Both teams had a nightmare start with the bat,(which means both teams had a dream start with the ball, ha) but I feel Windies, especially Gayle, had an off day. Early days I know, but Windies still my pic to be in the final.

I'm more a ramblin' man than a gamblin' one, but you are rather adept at having a flutter and losing almost every time.Jep wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 12:36 pmI'll offer you 45-1.kinard wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 12:22 pmNot a silly idea, they are paying 25-1.Jep wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 8:24 amYou should bet on that,..you could become rich, kinard wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 4:53 amWell done Aust., a great quick slog from Coulter-Nile and Starc takes first 5 wicket haul of the cup, good stuff.

Show us how it's done again - 1k on the Windies? Step right up, have a go my son.

Another couple of intriguing games - potential banana skins for England & NZ. Let's hope the weather doesn't intervene too much, although I think it's bound to have a say at some stage today.
I've looked at the forecasts for both Cardiff & Taunton: cloudy, windy starts, but brightening up later; looks like win-the-toss-and-bowl-first conditions in both games. Having said that, cloud will help the bowlers, but windy conditions will hinder them. Cardiff (England v Bangla) looks the windier of the two venues.
Let's just hope for some great cricket and exciting games!
