Chan Chan which was the capital of the Chimu culture from 800 AD to 1400 AD when the Inca truimphed in battle and ruled most of Peru thereafter until the Spanish arrived.
The buildings were made of a mud n sand mixture ( adobe brick) and thus have not survived so well.

Wow! Thanks a lot. How similar some of these look to others from 'different' cultures from around the world. The snakeskin and 'serpent' motifs are prevalent everywhere, it seems.
I have a mate of mine who is travelling throughout Croatia and eastern Europe - he sent me a pic of the so-called 'Virgin Mary' with the Owl of Minerva nestling on her sleeve. I wondered: ' what the heck is that doing there?' I'll try and dig it out for those interested.
Thanks again! Happy cycling!

Once again, one notes the similarities of Cromlechs, Dolmens and other Recumbent stone circles found all over Europe. Fascinating! I also love the step-pyramid archetype.
There is similarity with the Zimbabwean heads and circles, found in such places as Ndebeleland.
Fantastic, horace!
