I wonder if there's a business opportunity exporting Cambodian beer to the UK?
Because even if import duty and taxes double or triple the original price, it would still be way under the prices Brits are used to.

I was drinking local lager budget brew back in Europe available at the supermarket at about $1 for a 0.33cl can, and the quality was as good if not better than the name brand competition around, and also better than the regular local brew here, imo.

That was $4-5 a bottle of name brand quality brew, at the local alcohangout, down the street.
I don't want to talk about what they charge at the hipster café's..
but about x3 the price and up,
and you get to sit and feel redundant with the more self-important 30' somthings...

There's just one small flaw in your cunning plan; Cambodian beer is shit.
Here is a photo of some real beer. I took the photo yesterday afternoon down at the Three Horseshoes, where I kicked off my drinking career quite a few years ago at the tender age of 14. Apart from the prices, happily not much has changed.

One thing i notice about Ireland, which lacks vs Cambodia, is the sheer lack of choice for fruit & veg vs the KOW.
Carrots, potatoes, onions.
It's maybe a sign that Asian food places could be a good investment from a low base?
It doesnt seem like England here where every street has a curry house.

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
Slovenly pronunciation by newsreaders. Why can they not enunciate properly? It seems they're slurring deliberately.

Beggars can't be choosers.
Sell it at half the price of others, they will come.
Poor people don't care what alcohol tastes like.
Budweiser et al are proof of that.

Pretty sure Aldi’s got this market cornered with their generic brand beer. I’ve seen Leo sold side by side with the Aldi stuff and it is 3-4 dollars more expensive per 6 pack.

Beer is cheap here in Ireland in the supermarkets.
€10 for a pack of 8 Guinness.
Happy days.
More into red wine though. Back up the truck.
I tell the wife that the antioxidents in the wine keep me looking young and baayuuteefull.

I'm currently summering in England. Food and booze - at least in the supermarket - is close to half the price as Cambodia, and the quality so much better. I've hardly seen any poor people (thanks be to the Lord) . I saw a 'homeless' person in Cambridge last week, but he had a beer belly not unlike my own, and was dressed like he'd just walked out of one of those North Face outfitters. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that the worst beer here is better than the best in Cambodia.

I have absolutely no idea why quality is so low but prices so high in China and SE Asia. Do you? It's like standard economic theory suddenly stops at their borders.slavedog wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 4:37 amI'm currently summering in England.
