You actually have a point there. After living in a developing third world country for so long, you get used to a certain change of pace always going on around you.
Going home after so long away it takes a while to realise that 80% of what you left is still the same

Sold it last year for a profit. It can be done, but I’m not sure the investment in time is worth it, but.
I’m on the cusp of securing another long term desire of mine, the C140 CL500. I think they’ve depreciated as far as they’ll go now before the pendulum swings back.
But yeah, back on topic - food, cars and beer, best part of being home.
Rule of law to an extent too, but it does have a habit of eating into your degeneracy sessions, unfortunately.
How about the V12...

Except there is no longer a conservative party. Gotta thank Brexit for something.

Not to say large changes don’t happen (Brexit, etc), but to get stuck in conversations about neighbors and dogs and the smallest of regional shite like it fucking matters makes me just reach for the bottle.Playboy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 10:16 amYou actually have a point there. Most of the changes are actually on my tired old face, must be all the 50cent drafts.
So you go back home, after being smiled at by plenty of youthful females here, and so can't help but throw your attention at some chicks walking by on the street, except they are looking back at you as being some sort of criminal sex offender. If in a group they might even go for the personal attack, 'ew horny grandpa' 'what a disgusting old dxck' etc etc. and so you fly back here, to get a bit of respect again.

It’s more: “Oh great to see you! You live in.... Thailand or something, right? What’s the food like?”

When I was back I had a half hour conversation with a group of friends about how good the new Indian restaurant in the village was - I tried it and it was excellent. Followed by another half an hour on the Michelin Star restaurant that had also opened in the village - alas bookings for that were 2 months in advance so I could not give it a try.Miguelito wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 7:22 amNot to say large changes don’t happen (Brexit, etc), but to get stuck in conversations about neighbors and dogs and the smallest of regional shite like it fucking matters makes me just reach for the bottle.Playboy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 10:16 amYou actually have a point there. These discussions did follow on the backs of multiple conversations regarding former neighbours who had since moved away from the village and what they were doing now. Along with several conversations regarding concerns about the declining quality of our local schools.
