Argue in circles about British politics thread
In principal I agree that voting is a waste of time but 2016 was an exception for Americans because merely mentioning that you voted for Trump was enough to piss off a decent chunk of people. Plus he hasn't started any new wars which is something that Clinton most certainly would have done.

GOOD on 88: EVIL on 110
A dark cloud of evil is currently rolling over the whole of the UK. It's going to be a black Christmas. Expect rats and spiders to pour out of your presents.

So there's you and RobW, who's voting for Abbot, and I think Slavedog' s on the cusp. That fuzzhead is a no-hoper though. He may well be BNP. Playboy's probably voting for more booze.

That's interesting what Horace just posted on the other thread. I presumed most of you were pro right-wing. As just about every expat I have met in Cambodia over the last 10 years has been a right winger in one form or other.

Seeing as how the election was fought in large part on the NHS, and the Tory landslide that ensued, I thought it would be interesting to see how many people in the UK had private health insurance. Just to know how many turkeys had voted for Christmas.
I haven't managed to find the 2019 data (without having to pay for it) but in 2015, a total of 4,022,000 people had private cover.
13,941,200 voted Conservative yesterday.
So, around 10,000,000 turkeys.

There's some serious underfunding going on there.

Hark at this cunt.
"The chief rabbi, who strongly criticised Jeremy Corbyn and Labour during the election campaign over antisemitism, has called for unity following the result, while warning that prejudice remains a threat.
Ephraim Mirvis, the spiritual leader of the UK’s 62 orthodox synagogues, said:
The election may be over, but concerns about the resurgence of antisemitism very much remain. Islamophobia, racism and other forms of prejudice continue to afflict our communities and, as has been well publicised, even our political parties. It is vital that we now bring the country together, ensuring that the voices of people from across our society are heard and respected. We must focus on our shared values and leave all hatred and prejudice far behind us.
That guy has highly likely fuelled not just anti-Semitism, but Islamaphobia, racism, bigotry and homophobia in the population of the UK: anti-Semitism for the millions who voted Labour; racism, bigotry and homophobia for those that voted Conservative.
And all so he could have a go at Corbyn and others who didn't/ don't support Israel's annexing of Palestinian' territories with its illegal 'settlements': a euphemistic term used to describe huge walled cities.
It's almost as if the cunt would have voted against the Weimar Republic in favour of the NSDAP.
In short, the man who is now calling for calm, just helped vote-in the most bigoted party Britain as had in decades which has been using racist and bigoted tropes to get elected.
A woman in her 70s who has always lived in Doncaster said she only voted for the Conservative candidate “against Jeremy Corbyn”, but did not wish to be identified because she feared being berated in comments on social media.
I’m just hoping that [Johnson] is going to stand up to everything that Corbyn said, get us out of Europe and help this part of the country. [sic]
When asked what it was in particular that prompted her dislike for Corbyn, she said: “I don’t like his antisemitism.” But when asked if comments made by Boris Johnson about black people and Muslims had tainted her view of him, she replied: “I’ve never heard him say those things.”
Sajid Javid:
I hope that this election now that we’ve had the verdict of the British people and it’s been so clear allows all parliamentarians to put aside some of the differences, to put aside some of the division, and we can begin a healing process for the whole country. All our citizens. You know there’ll be Jewish citizens waking up today for the first time able to feel safe in our country, the first time since Jeremy Corbyn became leader of the Labour party

Not only did he go towards creating hatred against virtually the only real anti racist party apart from the Green's, but he also helped in a big way to vote-in Johnson, a well known zealot of racist and bigoted tropes.has called for unity following the result, while warning that prejudice remains a threat.
