I don't think it's possible simply through marriage. Hopefully other will come into this thread with exact advice, but I think it's more to do with length of stay. I seem to recall that a foreigner has to have seven years continuous residency to apply for citizenship. Plus after that there is a language test so you'd need to speak Khmer too. And doubtless there's a fee also.

If you're pedophile with money, they'll waive all those pesky requirements for you.

Well yes. And to be fair there is also the case of the white female who admitted sucking the penises of retarded little boys in her care to...ahem...'comfort them' and she's a citizen too. And she's still walking the streets.
In fact, there are a number of long term expats who have allegedly bought their citizenships and $50,000 was a figure quoted to me years ago. However, I think there's a special place in hell reserved for the Maoist Revolutionary who got citizenship in order to buy and develop a portfolio of luxury properties for rent at the the very highest end of the market. There's nothing wrong with entrepreneurship, but to to do that kind of thing whilst still waving the red flag is the highest form of hypocrisy. Alcohol is necessary so that a man can have a good opinion of himself, undisturbed by the facts
With respect, this isn't a recent case and if you look at the man's history, he seems a world apart from the average rich and creepy predator. In fact and until he was busted, his profile was that of a highly successful and respectable businessman and benefactor. It looks like the Khmers took him on face value as a rich and altruistic man. In this case, I don't think they can be blamed as the truth didn't come out until later. the semi official 440 Twitter site

This subject has come up here again and again. Check out Bubblet's posts on it. He speaks very fluent Khmer, but there is a part of the exam where you have to read and understand Khmer history, in Khmer script, and even a local would have problems with this. Post back when you've figured it out, obviously a little wonga helps...
Who Gives a Fuck?
Why would someone even want Cambodian citizenship? There are absolutely no advantages for any law abiding foreigner in being a Cambodian citizen.

The only advantage I can see is property ownership unless of course you happened to be from the US and during the 2000-2008 regime were so embarrassed by your leader that another nationality seemed an easy way out.
There are, you can buy property, and you dont need a visa. Im sure there are others, like you could join the CPP and become a senator, like the Russian guy. Who Gives a Fuck?
advantages:
cambodians: driving licence valid for 10 years foreigners: 1 year no visa's neccesary with a cambodian id, no entry fee to angkor (at least in theory) possible to own land And perhaps in a decade or two, if the asean block becomes more like the EU, visa free entry and work possibilities in other asean countries.
KiR, he was jailed in Thailand for molesting kids, then he was extradited to Mexico for molesting kids, all of which was widely reported in 2004. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... /WHITE.TMP Then in May 2006, Cambodian officials granted him citizenship in exchange for a suitcase full of cash (I assume), even though he clearly didn't meet the stated residency requirements, because he was currently languishing in a Mexican prison for molesting kids. I agree that it is a three year old example, but I can't agree that Cambodian officials were without blame.
Yeah, you're right. I didn't look closely at the timeline.

Doesn't rhyme with Stellen Knarvis does she? For once, you and I are in perfet agreement on this one...
Putting aside the ''possibles'' and the ''perhaps'' any accountant would say, put the [ $50,000 ] money in the bank and pay someone to sort out the other problems. $50,000 buys a lot of entries to Angkor , Visa's and drivers licenses. Every empty bottle is my private crystal ball
