I remember when our good friend Terry died (Mark Latham will remember this as he very generously contributed towards the funeral costs), poor old Sopheap had all sorts of problems because Terry had been living upstairs at her bar. So spare a thought at this time for jm. And like he said, there's no need for speculation or stirring the pot right now.

Poor byron,he was a really nice chap.
He died alone and he would have been cremated alone if it hadnt been for me and jeff and brunt.
The temple in the northern suburbs is a desolate sort of place with a small crematorium which is surrounded by a dusty square.
There was a fluffy dog dragging its broken rear end around as they put byrons plywood box in the oven.
The box was gayly decorated though with bright paper stuck on.
The amount of firewood was minimal and the cup of petrol for the accelerant was barely enough.
sadly the US consul told me that his family want neither his body or ashes back.
I will ring the consul tomorrow and suggest that we scatter the ashes on the mekong.
As jeff says-good excuse for a boat trip!

even repatriation of ashes? this may sound harsh ... but I suppose they couldn't be posted?shizzle wrote:That's really good of you guys.He died alone and he would have been cremated alone if it hadnt been for me and jeff and brunt.
I don't know about ashes, but from what I've read, repatriation can be pretty expensive.sadly the US consul told me that his family want neither his body or ashes back.

As much as I sympathize with his family's situation, I don't know too many people, no matter how kind, who would import some unknown powder from Cambodia into the states.Felgerkarb wrote:Carry on is the usual course.Fox Mulder wrote:Is there anything stopping a passenger boarding a plane with someones ashes in their luggage?

I'm sure they could be, my grandfather's ashes were posted back to us from Canada to Europe about 30 years ago. We didn't really want them in the house so I left them under a hedge for a few months.violet wrote:
