we have had two babies there, a minor op for me and other treatments - sewing up a bad cut on a child, flus and sniffles. They are fairly expensive but this tends to come from the extras rather than the doctor fees which are quite reasonable. Usually prescribe too many and too expensive medicines. Standard of care very professional eg for last birth obstetrician and pediatrician both present as well as nurses. They do post doctors qualifications and experience on the walls with photos which is a good sign for me. Patients room for the birth was very high standard - better than the private hospital I last had in Australia. Available 24 hours which is also a plus.
There is nothing more Australian than spending time in somebody else's country

...speaking of hospitals...

Which is a good hospital in PP that ISN'T super expensive, yet still offers quality service??

I want to get all my hep and other vaccines caught up, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg to go to SOS just because they cater to tourists....

Any advice???

Go to a private clinic, not a hospital.

E.g. ask Dr. Scot on St. 106 or 108...

Do you know what he charges for a visit? Also, does anyone have a clue as to what the charges for typical vaccines are through him or through another place??

Well, just to "see" him is $50.

Thanks for the 'visit' charge. I've heard it only costs $25 to visit Royal Vattanak, and I've heard good things about it, both here on k440 and from friends living here in PP. No offense to Dr. Scot but it seems I don't need to pay a lot extra for a Western doctor because I'm just getting some booster shots. If I ever need help with some STDs/STIs I might shell out the extra bucks for Dr. Scot's expertise, but Royal Rattanak seems like a legit Thai-standard hospital to me. I'll be sure to post where I go and how much it costs so other people in the future will know where/how much/how to get their routine jabs......

And worth every penny, Gavin is exceptionally well qualified and experienced, not too mention a gentleman and a scholar. Is kind to his dear old mum, helps grannies across the street and plays a mean saxophone.

It's worth $50 just to see him in his safari suit.

If you are refering to Tongsin Hospital , I have been treated by them and found them to be reasonable, the original doc is not there any more though .
