Slave Trade on CNN

Postby vladimir » Wed Oct 19, 2011 6:39 pm

A certain high-ranking policeman (commissioner) and his sister, who runs an employment agency didn't get very complimentary coverage on CNN tonight.Obviously they didn't check their facts and made outrageous claims.

Referring to the series mentioned in the Malaysia thread. Seems the Phnom Penh agency was recruiting young girls, getting them fake passports then sending them off into debt bondage in Malaysian factories where they were earning far less than promised and their passports taken from them.

This ties in with the thread on the banning (almost) of Khmer women (girls) travelling to Malaysia to work.
Merge?

The complicity of parents/ relatives in these cases, even when they know what might await the girls, should not be played down.
