CAMBODIA BEER gets special "license" to avoid ad restriction

Postby rob77 » Wed Jan 11, 2012 12:49 pm

It seems a bad strategy to go for this type of promotion so soon after launching, it will cheapen the brand which is still very new to the market.

They may have a license to do it but after the PM gave such a strong speech it isn't advisable to do something completely against his ruling. It looks like a loss of face as all the ministers made a big fuss and passed a new Prakas following the speech and have threatened to punish those that don't follow.

Most of the bigger companies here have strong connections with the people at the top but they should know when to use them.

All the other alcohol brands are owned or backed up by people with the same or better connections but they have all immediately stopped their lucky draw promos so it doesn't look good for Cambo Beer and for sure the other companies will all be complaining bitterly about this.

You're forgetting what country you're in. The Khmers won't give a fig, and they won't be in the least bit fazed by the overt hypocrisy and obvious 'behind-the-scenes' negotiations. At least we know which beverage is backed by the winning side now.

The main point is, Cambodia Beer is tasty :pissed:

The Daily wrote:"The lure of prizes can lead to young people binge-drinking and increased traffic accidents."

Ironman - "So, we'll ban the giving of blind-purchase based prizes as a beer promotion strategy..."

The Daily wrote:"The company received a special license allowing its newly launched Cambodia Beer to ignore the ban"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ban? What ban??

Very clearly, Cambodia Beer doesn't give a sh1t about young people binge-drinking or increased traffic incidents.

Talking of beverages, have any of you been unlucky enough to taste Regent Gold(?) It was forced on me at a recent wedding; makes Mekong look like Glenfiddich. Says 'Product of Scotland' on the bottle. Ha!Puke.

Nah, main point is if you buy 12 you'll probably win at least 2 free ones if not more - I did anyway. :cheers2:

I'm hoping to win a Scoopy.... This will require a lot of binge drinking, and drinking and driving.... See what these lucky draw promotions force me to do!
