Re: Anchor not being produced??
Smooth, KiR, really smooth!
Re: Anchor not being produced??Not losing sleep over this - perhaps bars will start to stock proper beer instead of gnat's piss*!
Still dreaming of proper draught Guinness in the 'bodge, or perhaps a cheeky Abbot Ale, IPA, *sigh* (* any lager)

What happened to Galaxy Bar on St 63? They used to do the widget stuff for $5 a can. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk the semi official 440 Twitter site

Re: Anchor not being produced??
Sadly one can't find a single PA, IPA, DIPA, or any other craft beer on this side of SEA (Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand) AFAIK. You'll have to go to the Philippines or Singapore.. Alcohol is necessary so that a man can have a good opinion of himself, undisturbed by the facts
Re: Anchor not being produced??
I had half a dozen widget cans last Friday night Lord Playboy hits the ground running; using Tapatalk on his LG Optimus Black "We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
Re: Anchor not being produced??
Pickled Parrot has those from time to time - Paddy Rice also snapped up a load for Paddy's day last year, so guess they must have some too? Surviving on Erdinger, Coopers & other various beers for the moment - it's probably for the better that good beer is hard to find, it prevents me from spending all my money, moving to Sihanoukville and forgetting to wash my hair for years ... (or ending up in the Koh Sante-cheam for the wrong reasons!)
Re: Anchor not being produced??
Erdingers, Coopers and Boags are all worth looking out for. A bottle of Fuller's IPA would be even better though....... the semi official 440 Twitter site

Re: Anchor not being produced??I think the Galaxy packed up a couple of years ago. Pity, as I used to quite like that place. Now, it's a place selling clothes for young chickadees. Presumably run by the sister of the young lad with a limp. Nice fella.
As for Anchor, I'd sooner eat a block of Anchor butter!I still say there's a market for real ales in the Kingdom. Surely, that stuff would travel well? It's lasted for hundreds of years in the UK/Ireland! O, let me not be mad, not mad, sweet heaven
Re: Anchor not being produced??
Yeh it's a frock shop; she scurries between her shop and Galaxy Internet. I live above it.
Re: Anchor not being produced??
I don't think it travels well at all, that's why you get all these local ales in the UK which you will only find in one small area. I used to enjoy checking out the local specialties any time I was out in the countryside areas in England.
I'm not so sure about Ireland, they don't have so many real ales there at all. Guinness Foreign Export Stout(7%?) was created just to cater for warmer climes where the original stuff went off, you can even get it here in many local shops for way less than the original goes for.
Re: Anchor not being produced??
IPA's would at least.. A guy in the Philippines is having craft beer shipped in a huge special container from the US, so if done properly it should work. IPA's were invented for the specific purpose of being able to travel by boat from England to India without spoiling But it would be perhaps cheaper/easier if a local brewery/microbrewery would start experimenting with something other than pilsner. The market is definitively there.. (if not in Cambodia and Laos, then at least in Thailand and possibly Vietnam.. from there it's a short way to Cambodia) Pale ales, India Pale Ales, Imperial stouts, Coffee stouts, Porters, Oatmeal stouts.. Anything. (Craft was beer's fastest-growing segment last year in the US.) Alcohol is necessary so that a man can have a good opinion of himself, undisturbed by the facts
