Perfect for the classroom

It might look like a walkie talkie, but that little box is more powerful than you think. When a cell phone jammer is turned on it can block any cell phone service in the area

Jammers are easy to buy at sites like phonejammer.com and jammerall.com

They've been around a long time. People were installing them in restaurants in London 10 years ago, but then I think the authorities decided they were illegal.

The simple solution is to ban all electronic appliances brought in by students. That's what the school I work for does. Students have to hand them in to reception and can get them at break times or when it's time to go home. If anyone is caught sneaking one in, it is confiscated for a month.

KL, agree. Some of the teachers are not guiltless, either. Using phones as modems for laptops and yahoo messenger chats during classes, etc.
It should be every (decent) school's policy to block all access except in designated areas.

I certainly wouldn't set foot in another cinema here without one.

Are these for sale in Phnom penh?
Theyd come in handy on long bus trips.

There have been a lot of times when I wish I had one of of these things. Mainly when I'm in airports. It's basically impossible to sit anywhere in an airport in the U.S. without some dickhead sitting down next to you 30 seconds later and loudly talking on a cell phone.

They are illegal to use in the U.S., and I'm also not sure what would happen if you tried to bring one through airport security.

Id like to buy one here and bring it into the states. I imagine if you dismantled it and put it in check-in luggage it wouldnt get detected.
Probably a small misdemeanor in the states if you got caught And ive read that no U.S citizen has ever been tried in court for cell phone jamming.

Good luck with that.. It's very illegal to use in most Western countries. In some countries it's even illegal to own.

Worst case scenario in the US : Blocking radio communications in public can carry fines of up to $112,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

Using the jammers is illegal in the United States. The radio frequencies used by cellphone carriers are protected, just like those used by television and radio broadcasters.

The Federal Communication Commission says people who use cellphone jammers could be fined up to $11,000 for a first offense. Its enforcement bureau has prosecuted a handful of American companies for distributing the gadgets — and it also pursues their users.

U're probably better buying it online and getting it shipped to ur US address. I "have a friend" who's bought all sorts of things, including a descrambler, online and gotten it delivered to the States (from the States I assume). Even got a refund after returning the descrambler...

Personally, going through customs with illegal, dismantled electronics seems like the worst option. That is asking for trouble.
