Wanted to publicize introduction agency for Brits to meet Khmer ladies with view to marriage.Placed ad in Khmer language newspaper, received 3 hour grilling by Interior Ministry, told sub decree makes this illegal ? Not a trafficking situation.Gather Koreans caused a problem treating Khmer ladies badly.Web page held over until problem resolved. What to do ? Suggestions welcomed. Is this a bung situation ?

Let's be generous and say, 'Very, very naive'. Learn the rudiments of a society before profiting from their women, eh?

Naive, mate. The Koreans were hoovering up hapless women in my wife's province previously - I know how they operated, leading to the blanket ban. I'm well-known in the community and could easily assemble a long list of good local girls looking to marry Brits. I also know both the UK visa rules and the Cambodian government's position, and I'm leaving that route well alone. Seriously, do your research and understand the society and the culture before getting involved in any well-meaning but naive venture.

Quite a nice catch phrase, not that I believe it for a moment !!! I'm inclined to say "F..k -- off ", but that would be unkind of me. Let just say I'm rather suspicious of your motives....
Enjoy life cos you only get one chance at it.

I agree... this is getting out of hand. No wonder they tried the 2,500 dollars and less than 50 y.o. thing...

I think it would have been successful if they banned marriages to foreigners who make MORE than $2500. What English teachers were really trying to take advantage of the situation here...

It'd be interesting to have statistics on how many Khmer women have been 'exported' abroad... truly an amazing phenomenon!

How is it amazing? Just about every village I know can point to at least one girl who's married a foreigner and moved abroad - I suspect the figure is fairly high.

I took a Khmer chick to the airport today for some Dairy Queen and her mom was a lil nervous, lol...
