I was under the impression that with my visa I'm a citizen and can vote, own land, etc.... Is this not true? I've been talking with mr cool's wife too much....

I should have written money can fix almost everything in cambodia, and I don't think it's fare from the truth.


Regarding the land buying, if she can't make it happen, we just put it in our names together, or her name or our kids name, no problem for me at all.


Another question is "do your home country allow you to have double citizenship?", or do you lose one when you gain another?

Cambodian citizenship is probably good for a sexpat who whants cheap girls and even cheaper boos, but for normal people, I don't see any good reason.

The citizenship opens for you opportunity to buy and sell land, (which can be stolen from you under the measliest of pretences) which you cannot do as a foreigner anyways, no matter what your wife tells you. There's many advantages, you don't have to pay for visas (wow! $300/year, big incentive), you can be voted in the office (uh, like in an election, a riel election, where your vote actually means something?), you can serve in government (HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAH fucking ha, $50/month if you're lucky, how many foreigners do you see in the Cambodian government - excluding Vietnamese and Chinese?), you don't need visa to Vietnam (again, what a huge saving? $40?, after your land has been stolen). It gives you a lot of advantages, it can give you a way more in the future. You never know.
