the rusty keyhole, restaurant business in kampot,is for sale. we would be selling it ready for a new owner to take over, lock, stock and barrel. the business has been open for over seven years, becoming evermore popular. we now have two amazing young daughters, who we desperately want to spend more time with. this is why we have decided to put the business up for sale. includes: all fixtures and fittings. living accomodation. great riverside location satelite tv with 2 tvs. our famous rib recipe my almost famous chaly (restored) 3.5+years on the existing contract, with 15months free rent on the end.(4500usd) the current staff of 6,who have been here long term, will also be staying on. and myself and my wife would be willing to stay on for two weeks with the new owner,to help them familiarize with the general running of the place. there is plenty of scope for expansion with this business,as we have built up a fairly good reputation over the past seven+ years.we also have a good mix of expat customers, and tourists,as we are in all the travel guides. this is a genuine profit making business, all year round.we have kept accounts since first opening back in december 2004. we will not be opening another bar and restaurant for the foreseeable future. the price is 50,000usd,or nearest offer.

You're selling the Keyhole, Kris? That is unacceptable. That being said, I'd buy it if I had 50K. The place was packed every time I dropped by.

That's a shame. Hope it goes to a loving home. Wasn't there a poster looking to buy a restaurant in Kampot recently?

the place looks great! how many rooms are upstairs now since you moved the kitchen? is there roof access for possible further expansion?
and Cambod.... i am surprised you haven't had the ribs yet! They're Great! they have a 1.5 kilo portion that I must finish before it sells. eat it all and you get your picture on the wall. So say when man... It's a 2 1/2 hour scooter ride. Hit lunch.... digest a bit, and back in Phnom Penh before the night falls.
Why, oh why, didn't I take the Blue pill?

there are still 2 rooms upstairs, with beds and all that. i think the guy looking for a business in kampot bought the old indochine,a short lived restaurant off the front. i would think that anyone who took over the keyhole, would have the good sense to keep the ribs on the menu,so i dont reckon it will be a problem getting them in the future. especially as i would like to try them more often than i do now.

Sounds like a good asking price, hopefully its met. Good food, though I haven't been in a while now. I remember another restaurant in Kampot a few years back with an asking price of 40k, but that was obviously unreasonable given the ROI of that particular place. Will you be operating something smaller, venturing into something new or just taking it easy for a while?
