Well, ladies and gentlemen, thanks for all the offers and tips.
I landed a job at Bates Ogilvy, as account manager. I'm thrilled. That was exactly what I was looking for, and more.
A big thank you to Playboy too, who has been more than helpful and shall remain the gentleman en chef of Cambodia.

Cheers, F.

Khmerized is looking for a new job (in advertising)

Postby rob77 » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:14 am

Now I know Bates WPP Ogilvy remains well respected outside Cambodia but have they ever recovered from the ass-raping of their staff leaving and taking all the main accounts with them a few years back?

It happened 2 or 3 times in a row over a 12 month period if I recall the lurid rumors correctly.

Something about some BS that was quickly copied by their remaining local staff...

I don't know. Didn't hear about that, but if it happened, it was before I came back to Cambodia to work at riverorchid.
From what I've seen and heard, Ogilvy is doing fairly good right now. They have interesting plans, interesting accounts, and interesting people working for them. I think the Bates rebranding, new management and Ogilvy merger made them pretty strong. We'll see. Their office is amazing though, probably the nicest I've seen in Cambodia.
Can't wait to start working there.

Wow, congratulation!
That was pretty fast also!

My background isn't as sexy as yours and I have no diploma at all, so ... I don't think I'll be as successful when I decide to do job hunting in Cambodia. But I might give it a try anyway.

In January, I've been hired by a japanese company located in Tokyo but I'm still waiting for the work visa to be granted ... and it's taking way too long in my opinion. Meanwhile, I'm currently applying to jobs in France but the competition and business manners are completely silly here. For example, there is this big company seemingly interested enough in me since they interviewed me 3 times already on different occasions ... but no decision taken yet. Their management sucks blatantly.

Well, sorry for rambling about my stupid life here but I need to vent some frustration I guess :-?

Anyway, I'm sure most of you guys don't like that idea but, if everything fails, I will have no other solution than trying Cambodia since it's the only one visa-friendly country in Asia as far as I know. I don't want to rot in a country that I already know way too much. :(

And with your new hairstyle, it won't just be your face that is red...

I must say, it suits you better than the dreadlocks.
